Victorian house in Perranwell Village
Cottage | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Charming, recently renovated period house with panoramic views, sun-trap terrace and an acre of grounds. The detached cottage sleeps 7 comfortably (8 at a push) + cot.
Perranwell is a quaint Cornish village midway between Falmouth and Truro, central to an array of beaches (Loe, Gyllanvase, Castle, St Agnes, Perranporth) and activities (stunning walks, gardens, riding, golf, theme & animal parks, watersports, surfing, coasteering).
The village has a well-stocked shop with daily Cornish pasties, post office, a pub with some of the best grub around and a cute mini-spa for beauty treatments. Well established gardens on all four sides of the house adds to a deep sense of rural peace, yet you're just minutes away from Southwest Cornwall's myriad attractions.
Packed with original features (window seats, fireplaces, stripped original floorboards) and decorated in Farrow & Ball's muted tones in a 'true to period' style. A large country kitchen-diner with space for entertaining eight with separate larder and laundry room. Large drawing room with a more formal dining space and a cosy living room (DVD library, books, wii, board games). A curved Victorian staircase with central chandelier leads to four upstairs bedrooms (two doubles, one twin and a single/small double), one bathroom with roll-top bath/claw feet (and stellar view) and a walk-in shower room with waterfall shower.
Cornwall's capital, Truro, is only 10 minutes' drive (5 miles) with its imposing Cathedral, shops, bars, restaurants and cinema. There is also a branch line train which stops in the village should you wish to leave the car at home.
The port of Falmouth (5 miles), again with train connections, is home to the Maritime museum, Pendennis Castle, fishing trips, three beautiful beaches and Rick Stein's Fish restaurant.
Mylor Harbour for sailing is less than 10 minutes drive away (4 miles). The renowned Pandora Inn with its Gold Olympic post box in honour of local boy Ben Ainslie and thatched roof is an excellent spot for a glass of Pinot and a pint of prawns. With crabbing off the pontoon and stunning riverside views this heavenly spot is around an eight-minute drive.
Introduce little ones to furry friends at the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, take a boat trip across to the Roseland Peninsular on the King Harry Ferry, soak up some artistic charm in St Ives with a trip to the Tate and Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, or watch a play at the open-air Minack Theatre carved into the granite cliff overlooking the spectacular panorama of Porthcurno Bay.
The choice of beaches is endless. Nearest at just 3 miles is Loe with its watersports centre and beachside café. Whether you wish to hire a kayak, learn to sail or simply enjoy the vista, this 'locals' secret' beach is a gorgeous spot.
Falmouth's three beaches are perfect for white sand and rock pooling (5 miles). Cockling fans will prefer Helford Passage (9 miles), whereas surfers may choose to head to rugged North Coast treasures such as St Agnes (9 miles) & Perranporth (20 miles).
5-10 minutes' drive to one of Cornwall's finest 18-hole golf clubs (Killiow). Truro Golf Club is another close-by option, or for sea views while you putt try Perranporth (20 miles).
Special Interest Holidays
