Pubs and Eating:
Cornwall is an excellent place to eat and drink. It has everything from the local Cornish pasty (available everywhere!) through to award winning restaurants, such as Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver..
The National Trust own many beaches, gardens and houses in Cornwall.
The small village of Feock lies right on the shore of the river Fal, and at the head of the Carrick Roads. Feock is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It can be reached from the Truro/Falmouth road or across the river and the Roseland by the King Harry Ferry.
During the winter a fleet of oyster boats work this area around Restronguet Point and can be watched from the shore at Loe Beach.
The mild climate in South Cornwall invites holidays all year round. Many of our visitors prefer to come outside high season when it is less busy and the cost is much lower. The South Coasts offers a softer, more Mediterranean climate than the North Coast. Feock is close to the King Harry Ferry which gives you easy access to the pretty village of St Mawes and the magical Roseland Peninsula. There are some delicious restaurants with great locations all within easy access, either by road or by water. Examples are the Pandora Inn, The Three Mackerel, The Sticky Prawn. Nearer to Feock, the Punchbowl & Ladle offers great food and a great range of Cornish Beers – within stout walking distance in Penelewey. The lovely Cathedral city of Truro is only 5 miles away –there is even a local bus service. Falmouth, only 9 miles away, can be easily reached by road or public transport.
There are local convenience stores at Playing Place and Carnon Downs, complete with Post Offices. Within 5 miles you have a choice of Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda.
But you won’t need them as you’ll be sampling the fantastic restaurants we have in South Cornwall!
