Ashton Lodge Cottage
About the home
PEACEFUL, QUIET LOCATION - PERFECT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR!
Situated in the picturesque and peaceful garden of the owner's property, Ashton Lodge Cottage was formerly the gardener's cottage for The Grange. Peaceful and relaxing, the cottage makes the ideal base from which to explore Bath, Bradford on Avon and the wider area of Wiltshire and Somerset. A lovely self catering Wiltshire Cottage.
Built of Bath stone, with pretty roof gables, the cottage is perfect for a couple and many of our guests return year after year. The owner is on hand to assist you with local knowledge of the area and will be only too happy to help you to plan your stay.
The cottage is well maintained to a high standard and is within a few minutes of local shops as well as two large supermarkets. There are local restaurants and takeaways nearby and a very popular pub within walking distance serving food and drinks.

Located in the village of Hilperton on the outskirts of Trowbridge (the County Town of Wiltshire) and just 12 miles from Bath. Longleat is one of the largest attractions in the region and there are also plenty of National Trust properties nearby as well as the perfecxtly preserved village of Lacock, location of Harry Potter and also the recent BBC series, Cranford.
Cheddar caves and Wookey Hole caves are fascinating and are imaginitively presented by means of a series of lights which identify various collections of stalagmites and stalagtites and even the legends of a witch or two!
This region is renowned for its food and farmers' markets are plentiful - buy west country Cheddar, Wiltshire Ham, Somerset Brie or freshly squeezed apple juice or cider.
Avebury, Stonehenge and numerous ancient burial sites are near at hand with Westbury White Horse offering an opportunity for a windswept walk and views over the surrounding countryside.
There are canal and river walks and the pretty town of Bradford on Avon offers history, antiques shops and honey coloured houses with small streets to discover, straddling the River Avon.

The Roman Baths, Pump rooms and the Georgian crescents are Bath's treasures. The Thermae Spa is attracting millions of visitors from all over the world who wish to sample the benefits of the thermal waters so favoured by the Romans.

We found this location ideal for visiting several nearby towns and villages where our ancestors came from. We used the local buses and they were very punctual except for Friday evening. We used a weekly bus pass which was hard to find, but the shop by the bus stops outside the town hall sells them. The cottage was just perfect for us, really well equipped, and we found all we needed and probably more! Daphne was so kind and helpful and we could not have found a nicer place to stay, so full of detail. I would most definitely recommend Ashton Lodge Cottage although unfortunately I doubt we will return as our reason for visiting the area is no longer, we accomplished all we wanted in our week. Response: Thank you form your kind comments and I am glad that the cottage came up to your expectations. I try to keep it in the state that I should expect to find it if I were renting it. Sorry you have no further need to visit our area but if you ever do I shall be happy to welcome you. Kind regards Daphne Richards |

This is a cosy cottage just right for a couple. A home away from home. All the little things that you might need like washing up liquid are there. The cottage is ideal for touring Bath and the surrounding area. There is a Budgens supermarket and a cheap pub a short walk along a footpath. Response: Thank you for your comments. I try to keep the cottage in pristine condition and equip it with everything holidaymakers might require |

Stayed at Ashton Lodge Cottage with my mum for a week as a base for our stay in the UK from Australia. Such a beautiful place to stay! The cottage is presented immaculately and has the most cosy lounge and beautiful comfy bed upstairs! The garden is lovely to sit in for a coffee, and the cottage has all the amenities you need to self-cater, including a stack of brochures on what to do around the area and transport options. The hosts are lovely and we were very sad to leave! They even brought us some delicious apples from their apple tree! Buses are easy to catch and there are pubs and shops within walking distance - we had dinner at the Red Admiral three times in a week! We loved it! Hilperton is a lovely village and is perfectly located to see Bath, Bristol, Longleat, The Cotswolds, Devizes, everywhere! Trowbridge is a lovely town too we spent a very nice day there. We even visited the local hall for a game of bingo with the friendliest locals! Thank you so much for our stay we loved everything about the place and would love to stay again when back in the UK. We would recommend to everyone and would say the price is extremely reasonable. Response: Very gratifying to know that the cottage was appreciated and I should be glad to welcome such discerning guests at any time |
