About the home

Large terrace ideal for dining al fresco. Equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. Breathtaking views of Tropea, Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands. Day trips to Sicily, Aeolian Islands, Stromboli.

Property is just 40 minutes drive from the airport at Lamezia Terme.

Minutes from Zambrone marina, the longest/whitest beach in the area. In fact, there are three beaches to choose from! Each have crystal clear, turquoise water. The second beach, more secluded, is Cappo Cozza accessible from the cafe/terrace of Zambrone train station, and Marinella.
Our outdoor/unheated swimming pool is exclusive to yourself and a few neighbours and opens in early Spring.

Air conditioning, heating in cooler months - inclusive in price of rental (unlike other regions of Italy).

This brand new villa/bungalow-style apartment is self-contained, quiet and secluded, in its own grounds. Our garden is a work in progress, with young fruit trees and new flowering plants!

Fresh seafood is offered to your door by local fisherman.

Away from the bustle, yet 5 minutes from the beaches. Close access to all amenities. Located just south of Zambrone village, overlooking Marina di Zambrone below.

Drive into the Sila Mountains regions - enjoy skiing in winter. See the magnificent nature reserve year-round.

Places of interest in Calabria can be reached in under an hour, including the eastern coastline of the Ionian Sea. A wealth of places to go, things to see and not far to travel anywhere! East coast Calabria can be reached within one hour.

Please Note: Calabria is new and free from mass tourism. Because of recent buiding/development, our road is not yet paved (Spring 2011). Southern Italy moves slower than the rest of the world, which adds to it's charm and your relaxation!
Priscopio (not to be confused with Piscopio, which is inland) is a marvellous, quiet spot with spectacular views!

The Southern Italy / Calabria region

Ruggedly beautiful, sandy white beaches and seaside grottos. A huge agricultural area, famous for the patented red onions of Tropea. (Known as the "Viagra of Calabria)

This part of Italy is a well-kept secret. Northern Italians, have been coming here for years, getting away from mass tourism in other regions. The climate and wide open spaces are unbelievable. Calabria boasts almost year round vacation climates. May through October is usually summer-like weather.
History buffs are in awe of diverse history of this particular region.

Zambone is situated in the hills overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast. Quiet and serene. Steeped in diverse history and culture. The diversified coastline features wide beaches of white sand or rocky shores overlooking the sea. Zambrone Marina is closeby, with two beaches, one named Paradiso del Sub, located in a lovely bay, accessed by a small path, an ideal place for privacy and some snorkeling! Closeby the main Zambrone Marina and Marinella. See the old towne of Zambrone and visit the "Chiesa di San Carlo", this historic building houses and preserves valuable works of art. See the Monument to the war dead and the beautiful poetoc tribute by Garcia Lorca!

This is the heart of the "costa degli dei" , a few steps away from the famous towns of Tropea and Pizzo. Distance only 5 minutes to Tropea, 15 minutes to Pizzo, 40 minutes to the airport. One hour away are the famous parks of the Sila Mountains with their opulent vegetation and some skiing in winter. The Tropea Blues Festival is not to be missed, in early September. Tropea comes alive after dark. After watching the sunset, over a glass of Proseco, stroll lovely cobbled streets, taking in the sights and sounds. Enjoying the fresh local food restaurants, that are "second to none" . Stores stay open late!

Ideal for biking tours, water sports. deep sea diving at Groticelle and Tropea. Boat trips to the Aeolian Islands daily from Tropea and Vibo Marina. Enjoy the mud baths at Stromboli Island. Reggio di Calabria and Sicily are only 1.5 hours drive. Enjoy a day in the mountains of the Sila. Skiing in season.

Most parts of Calabria, east or west coast can be reached within one hour.

The Tropea / Zambrone area

Your vacation home is approximately 5 minutes drive to Tropea, 15 minutes to Pizzo , Vibo Valentia city, with it's spacious shopping mall is about 20 minutes. An hour to the Sila Parks and Mountains. Drive the magnificent "costa degli dei" costal road for breathtaking scenery, going all the way to Villa San Giovanni (ferry to Sicily) or onward to Reggio di Calabria, in just over an hour.

The Zambrone location has a wealth of unique attractions with the largest and whitest beach in the region. Close to Tropea and just 40 minutes from Lamezia Terme airport, 30 minutes to Vibo Valentia and 5 minutes to Tropea. Location: West coast on the Tyrrhenian Sea, just south of the famous Amalfi coastline. A newly discovered oasis of rugged landscape beauty and culture.

Zambrone Marina has a train station, which services the coastline trains travelling from Lamezia and points north all the way south to Reggio di Calabria. The station itself has a small bar/terrace close to a well-stocked supermarket complete with delicatessen.

Zambrone has several beaches, the main (and longest in the region) is easy to access and has plenty of parking. Yet another sandy beach named Cappo Cozza, large and secluded, behind Zambrone station.

Zambrone marina offers pedalo rentals. A variety of restaurants/bars, from pizzerias to local fine cuisine and, of course, local wines. The supermarket also sells fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, beer and liqeurs.

Old Zambrone is up in the hills, just north of the property. Here you will find even more restaurants/bars, local butcher, fishmonger, post office, pharmacy and bank/bank machine.

Priscopio has 2 restaurants, at La Collinella and Pirapora (organic farm) in season.

Visit Tropea, the medieval jewel of the Tyrrhenian sea. Cathedral on Via Roma, (oppositive Don Rocco Restaurant) boasts interesting WWII artifact. Many restaurants, stores, cyber cafe, jewellery and gift shops. Enjoy the famous gelato at Tonino's. Amble along quaint, narrow streets, which open onto small squares.
The historic town of Pizzo is a half hour's drive north, with it's Norman castle, outdoor cafes and tours. Vibo Valentia, the town, is just 30 minutes drive inland to the northeast of Zambrone. Visit the museum at the old castella, take the tour, or enjoy the bustle and charm of the largest metropolis in the region. You can find everything you need here.

See Vibo Marina, with it's lovely harbour, boats/ yachts. Stroll the promenade, stopping for a while at the pastry bar/cafes. Enjoy traditional family fare with lunch at a trattoria along the waterfront.

Drive south along the coast road, from Tropea to the lovely town or Santa Domenica; stop at the delightful beer garden of Il Giardino della Rose Cafe - featuring a magnificent array of Italian pastries and gelato. Complimentary snacks and pizza are served with evening drinks.

Beyond Santa Domenica, is Capo Vaticano and Ricadi, well worth a drive for some spectacular scenery en route to Nicotera and Nicotera Marina.
Golf course of Feudo Montalto Club, at Limadi, is 30 min. south of Tropea, with dining and club house. Calabria has 2 National Parks Aspromonte and the Sila - with lucious lakes and forests. Enjoy skiing at San Giovanni.
Taste reknowned Calabrian cuisine of freshly caught fish, fruit and vegetables. Enjoy Ndjua (spicy salami) produced in nearby Spilinga (between Zambrone and Tropea).
Train from Tropea to Rome - in under six hours. New express trains were added this year!

RYANAIR flight schedules are listed in Feb/March, flying on Mon, Wed, Friday and Sundays.
(Ryanair has UK flights to Rome, Pisa or Milan outside of their regular flights from Stansted, UK. Flying from other European airports - with connecting flights to Lamezia Terme Airport (SUF)

Alternatively, take the train from Rome and enjoy the magnificent scenery along the Amalfi coast to your destination. Rail travel in Italy is low cost and reliable - approximately 5.5 hours travel time.
Rail routes travel the coast of Calabria to all destinations, north, south, east and west.
Trains from Rome/Milan to Zambrone and Tropea.

This apartment is new to the Calabrian rental market.

We stayed here in August 2009. Although the property was brand new, pool not finshed - no problems. Great beaches are so close. it was in a great location, magnificent views, lots to do and everything within easy reach. Beach and facilities are wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly return! Paul and Deborah from Portugal and Canada.
