The Troon area
Travelling north from Prestwick brings you to the town of Troon, which dates from early 1800's. The town is now a popular holiday resort with its soft sandy award winning beach overlooking the Isle of Arran.
The esplanade offers various facilities for families including crazy golf and putting.
The bustling harbour attracts anglers, sightseers and yachting enthusiasts who can enjoy the excellent facilities of the 300 berth Troon Yacht Haven which is one of the Clyde's leading sailing centres.
A full range of recreational pursuits is available including an indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts and bowling greens.
Troon has an amazing six golf courses, including Royal Troon, which regularly hosts the Open Championship, and did so most recently in 2004.
A good selection of restaurants and wine bars will refresh you after you have browsed through the many individually owned shops which offer something just that little bit different.

Troon is well served by road.
Ryanair have frequent daily flights to Glasgow Prestwick Airport from London Stansted and many other European destinations. Troon is only 10 minutes away by car or taxi.
There is a train station adjacent to Prestwick airport. Troon is the next stop.
If arriving by train Glasgow is only a 30-minute journey.
The ferry port in Troon has daily sailings to Belfast.

Stayed, (Last July - just been a bit slack in writing a review, which is a pity because it was a great stay) on a trip to Troon for a Wedding and some family time, We have spent a great deal of of time in Troon over the years, so we know the town very well. Braden Road Apartments was ideal for our needs. Less than 5 minutes walk from the town centre and about ten to a reasonablly sized national chain supermarket. There are plenty of local restaurants and takeaways in this same area. Offstreet parking is provided (handy)and the flat was very well presented and clean. Cons : None really - maybe on the dearer side - but having said that you get what you pay for : a clean comfortable 2 bedroom apartment with all the mod cons one would expect in this price range. Being a ground floor apartment there was no view as such, but the garden was again nice and tidy with an area for hanging washing - essential on an extended stay. Troon is a lovely town about 40 minutes from Glasgow on the Ayrshire Coast ( Near Ayr) and is a good base for those that wish to explore the South-west of Scotland ( Burn's Country) or for Golfers. The Owners/Managers were very friendly and helpful both via email and phone to coordinate the booking and to help/troubleshoot the biggest problem of the stay... my inability to operate the TV ! Great Stay, would stay again without any hesitation another time and would recommend to others. |

The flat was just what we needed for our stay, There is a very nice kitchen and the bedrooms and bathroom are fine though it was a bit small if you want to spend extended time inside. The location is great although there are no sea views it is just a short walk to the south beach. Neighbours were invisible and all was very quiet. |
