Gite des Acacias
Guest house | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Gite des Acacias is a guest house recently build in 2012 on a family owned farm property, surrounded by sugar cane fields.
Our house is located only 6 kms away from the airport, with only the advantage of it, as you never hear planes lending or taking off. Its proximity makes it an ideal place to stay for its quietness, safe area and low budget.
Meant for 1 or up to 6 guests, our guests rooms are small but offer all the comfort for short stays :
Air conditioning, fans, orthopedic mattress (standard size ), safe in the rooms, en suite shower rooms and toilets, fenced yard with private parking facilities.
Our guest rooms are located a couple of meters out of our house.
Our concept is to fully open our house to our guests so that they share our Mauritian living style, have breakfast and meals with us while enjoying their private space as well if they please.
Our family farm invites to discover its seasonal fruits and, you may discover and taste tropical fruits you probably never heard about! Our family breeds rabbits, wild bores, quails, hens and ducks and sometimes host baby bats and baby hair found alive in the yard....
What children love most is to cuddle the small rabbits and play with our dogs.
As you enjoy your holiday and visit the surrounding area, we look after your breakfast and diner is available with a supplement. If you wish to have supper with us, just let us know what specialties you would like to try and we'll organize accordingly.
We may help and/or guide you in organizing your visits and tours and may help you get good deals for car rentals, taxi day tours, boat trips, etc...
Make the clever combination beach and inland discovery holidays for a complete Mauritian holiday experience.

The Mauritius South Coast region
Mauritius is famous for its beautiful beaches and lagoons. If the north is more popular for its touristic areas, its dry and hot climate, most visitors take a car ride down to the south as it offers beautiful scenery, view points and authentic places to visit.
Between november and april, the south east part is cooled down by a nice ocean breeze, which is always welcome when sitting out in the garden or by the sea.
The south of Mauritius is known for its unspoiled nature park in Black River Gorges, its natural beauties such as Chamarel, Baie du Cap, Gris Gris...Driving along the southern coast is just a beautiful ride to the authentic mauritian villages and beaches.
Mahebourg local market, the Crocodile Park in Riviere des Anguilles, La Cambuse beach, Blue Bay marine parc, the traditional Biscuit factory aged 140 yrs, etc. the list is much longer regarding all the activities and places of interest. On its own, the south could take more than a week to visit.
Authenticity, warmth of its people and so many things to discover !
For fun adventures or relaxing stay, plan a stop over in southern Mauritius !
Take a 3 days break to discover the inlands and just a different way to experience Mauritius.
Next to beautiful beaches like La Cambuse comes a long cliff going from Le Bouchon down to Souillac. Beautiful view points at Natural Bridge and Le Souffleur will show you a side of Mauritius you probably wouldn't expect !
You may wish to stay in the south east coast for the followings :
- Walks in the sugar fields or along the cliffs by the Indian Ocean
- visit Ferney valley and nature reserve
- take a tour down to the deep south :
* visit the crocodile farm
* visit the Saint Aubin rhum distillery and vanilla green house on this colonial estate with a stunning colonial house and gardens.
* visit Gris Gris and Souillac
* visit of the the Bois Cheri tea factory
- Visit Mahebourg village for :
* its local market
* its traditional biscuit factory dated 1870
* a boat trip in the Blue Bay marine park
* a cruise up to Ile aux Cerf
Choosing to stay in the south east is a must to visitors looking for authenticity of places and people.
