The Dalmatia region
The arts, heritage and lifestyle, that's central Dalmatia in a nutshell. This makes it a place not to miss - for fun, rest and relaxation while enjoying the 1700-year-old tradition!
In the year 305, the Roman Emperor Diocletian (who had practically the entire known world at his feet), chose the centre of Dalmatia as the place to build the country house in which he would enjoy the last ten years of his life. Today the former Imperial Palace is the settled historical core of Split, Croatia's second largest city and the eternally young, noisy and merry centre of the region's tourism and economy that sets the rhythm, style and cheer for its wider surroundings, the smaller tourist destinations, the islands off its shores and the green hinterland heart of Dalmatia.
Excursions
A number of one-day trips are available from Trogir:-
SPLIT - A town of classical Roman, old Croatian, Romanesque and renaissance architecture, with a Mediterranean atmosphere. Split is easily explored on foot and is a delightful place to while away a few hours. It is a shopper's paradise, whether wandering through the narrow cobbled streets or haggling for bargains at the large outdoor market. When you need a rest, where better to enjoy a cup of coffee than on the expansive marina looking out onto the islands of Brac and Hvar.
MAKARSKA, the centre of the Riviera and coastal area, is a natural choice, with its town square, Cathedral of St. Mark, but above all because of the Franciscan Monastery and its rich collections.
PRIMOSTEN, a gorgeous islet 20 minutes north of Trogir. The prefect place to spend a day exploring.
KRKA Waterfalls, one hour north of Trogir. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the forest, spectacular views of the waterfalls and the chance to swim in the lake.
THE ISLAND OF HVAR The town of Hvar is the biggest settlement on the island and is famous for its lavendar. It abounds in Romanesque and Renaissance buildings, and Mediterranean atmosphere. A must see for a day trip.
DUBROVNIK - A Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque town - all in one, is a must. Located on the very southern end of Croatia.All-day excursions.
MEDJUGORJE - A world famous sanctuary.
Detailed information on excursions can be obtained at the tourist agencies. In addition, we have a local person who offers personalised day trips and fish picnics.
The Trogir / Ciovo area
Trogir is a town and harbour on the coastal strip of the Kastela Gulf, 27 km west of Split, with a population of10,266. The old town is situated on a small island between the island of Ciovo and the mainland; connected with the mainland by a small stone bridge, and with the island of Ciovo by a drawbridge. The town is a UNESCO heritage centre, and the majority of the buildings are from the medieval period. It is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, full of small intimate restaurants, bars and ice-cream parlours. Lovers of cultural and historical monuments, original architecture and art can wander around at their leisure, soaking up the history. The waterfront, with its long promenade, bars and restaurants is particularly popular at night. Indulge in some celebrity spotting as luxury boats come in to moor.
Trogir ACI Marina has 200 berths in the sea and 80 places on the land. Their website is www.aci-club.hr.
The wider surroundings of Trogir (Trogir - Seget - Ciovo Riviera) is characterized by lavish green vegetation, numerous islands and islets, rocky and pebble beaches.

My husband and I stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time The weather was hot so it was swimming every day .We preferred the small beach at the end of the road and swam from the rocks . The welcome pack was great and Bozena provided an enormous cake for my husbands birthday..There were plenty of good local restaurants to eat at and when we ate in the roadside fresh produce was lovely. Would definitely recomend this apt |
Guestbook for Mavarcica Lane
The apartment was lovely - the weather was hot - the people were nice - and the beer was cold!
Trogir was beautiful and the beach was spot on. The air con in the apartment was a godsend! We could want for nothing in the apartment and the welcome pack provided by Bozena was a nice surprise.Thank you for the use of your apartment!

Just to let you know we had a great holiday in Croatia. We had 4 days down near Dubrovnik before coming up to your Trogir apartment. This gave us the opportunity to have a look at Dubrovnik and Mostar etc. which was very good. We very much enjoyed staying at your apartment. The position was great, near the shops and beach etc. We went on the water taxi to Trogir one night for a meal on the quayside, and found some live music in the main square, which is put on several times a week apparently. Also there is a free Wi-Fi spot in the centre of Trogir, if you sit in the main square the signal is very good. We made good use of the roof terrace which was lovely. We really liked the area close by and thought Trogir, linked to the island was a lovely place. Much better than Split, Sibenick etc. I think you have chosen an ideal spot. We will have no hesitation in recommending your apartment and Croatia as a great place to have a holiday.

Just to let you know we had a great time in Croatia this summer. The best thing about the apartment at that time of year was the peace and quiet on the roof terrace. An easy walk down to both the beach and the village but not in amongst the hustle and bustle. Although it rained a little bit, the temperature was such that we didn't really mind. We didn't hire a car as we were only staying for a week but Bozena's friendly taxi-drivers were very sociable and reasonable prices. We also used the water taxi but to be honest, we were there to relax and that's what we did. PS The new Italian along the road past the church was well worth the several return visits we made to it!

We stayed in this extremely well equipped apartment for a week in August 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It would be hard to think of anything the property lacks, and the starter food pack was especially appreciated after our late arrival from Zadar airport!
What sets this property apart from the crowd however, is the huge roof terrace with its great views, we spent quite a few evenings up there after dinner. Also the air con provided a welcome relief from the midday heat on the days we were "at home". We like to see as much of the area as possible when on holiday - we visited Trogir and Split several times by both car and water taxi, also Dubrovnik (long day!) and the beautiful Krka national park on our way back to Zadar - all well worth seeing. The only problem is that, in peak season, the approaches to Trogir become gridlocked and it can take some time to reach the mainland.

Just wanted to say we had a lovely time in Okrug Gornji and loved the apartment. Bozena couldn't have been more helpful. We have been recommending both the place and the apartment to friends.

So, true to our word, we did return and spent 3 glorious weeks in this stunning apartment in May. As ever, we had an amazing time. The weather for the first week was quite windy but we went on day trips to explore Split as well as Krka waterfalls. Vinjeslav (sorry about the spelling!) collected us from the apartment and drove us in 5 star luxury up the coast to Krka. We spent a great day exploring the rain forest and went on a river cruise (too cold to swim at the bottom of the waterfall!). We even traveled as far as Medjugorje another overcast day. The weather improved on the second week so off to the beach! We spent endless hours sitting on the rocks at Mava Bay and swimming in the clear blue sea. We finished off the day sunbathing with a cold beer in the cafe by the beach. We ate out most evenings - again the Mali Raj remains our favourite, closely followed by Cici Belles in Trogir! This time we brought 2 other family members. It was their first time in Croatia, and like us there were captivated by it. It is a fantastic country and the people are so friendly and accommodating (particularly Bozena who is a star!). The apartment is perfect and the view from the roof terrace is incredible, even when overcast. We had a great time and hope to return again next year!

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks last summer, along with 4 other family members. It really is 5 star! The apartment itself is newly built and has been decorated to a very high standard. The beds are really comfortable with ample storage. The main bedroom with the en suite has a beautiful raspberry wall behind the wrought iron bed and a small chandelier! Very decadent for a holiday rental! Both bathrooms are large with great showers. Plenty of hot water to wash off the sun factor at the end of a long day sunbathing. It was immaculately clean and Bozena was extremely helpful throughout our stay. All towels and linen were provided and changed weekly. The kitchen is really well equipped and we particularly loved the luxury of a dishwasher as well as the novelty of the under counter wine/beer cooler - that got a lot of use! We also really appreciated the DVD library - for the lazy nights in! Where this apartment comes into a class of it's own though is the roof terrace. It is huge! It has a large table, 4 chairs and 2 benches as well as 2 sun loungers. We particularly loved the day beds. We spent many hours stretched out on them, the umbrellas swaying gently in the breeze, reading books or dozing off a good lunch. The view is unrivalled - the nearby islands, the deep blue sea, the roof tops and the church spire. It is like a postcard! While only 10 mins walk to Okrug Gornji, you felt you were a million miles away. It was so relaxing. We preferred to swim in the little fishing cove Mava rather than jostling with the crowds on Okrug beach. Remember to bring your jelly sandals and your snorkling gear! Nights were spent meandering though the cobbled streets of Trogir (get the water taxi over - it goes regularly from the marina in Okrug and takes approx 15 mins), or enjoying a barbeque on the roof terrace. I particularly recommend this apartment for watching the sunset - while sipping an ice cold gin and tonic! Pure paradise. We will definitely return!

This property is a well maintained and modern apartment with everything provided for a comfortable holiday.
The terrace has fabulous views of this beautiful part of Croatia and is well furnished.
A highly recommended apartment for a perfect getaway holiday!

Hi Hilary,
We would like to thank you for a fantastic stay! Bonzena was great. The apartment was more than satisfiying, we had everything that we needed. We just LOVED the roof terrace, we did spend many nights there. It was great that the basic things were there when we came, like washing powder, wather, food and clean towels. Thank you so much for making our stay as good as possible. I hope that we have the chance to rent it again!!!
C. Furuset (July 2009)
This is a fairly new, well equipped and nicely furnished apartment. The owners are easy to work with and very helpful. The apartment is managed by Bozena, who we found helpful and accommodating. The view from the roof terrace is simply spectacular. The terrace is huge, and with the 2 large daybeds and 2 sun beds it's easy for a family of 4 to take a comfortable power nap after a hard day at the beach! If you are going to stay in the Okrug and Trogir area only you don't need a car. The taxi boat to/from Trogir runs every 30. min. all day. All things considered this is the best apartment rental we have ever stayed in and we would recommend it to others!
