The Dalmatia region

The Unesco (World Heritage) site of Trogir is approximately 4 km away offering a perfect slice of high Venitian style within the crystal clear, azure Adriatic. Tiny picturesque pedestrianised streets, open air courtyard restaurants, architectural riches a plenty, with chic, yet unpretentious bars and cafes.
Daily markets offers fine quality fresh produce ( most things available ) including great seafood, local fruits and vegetables with other specialities of the region such as the delicious locally cured hams and cheeses.
Split city, described by its people as ‘the most beautiful in the world and beyond’ is easily accessible, by road or if preferred by local water taxi in under an hour.
The ancient site of Salona (Roman capital of Dalmatia) is within a short drive from Split.
Ferries to several neighbouring islands depart from Split. Including Brac, Hvar and Vis.
The Trogir area
The island of Ciovo is an islet of Trogir's archipelago. The town of Trogir is the central part of the Rivera and also the most historic. Its intricate fascades, churches and monuments, has beautifully imortalised the many centuries of flamboyant artistic strength and inspiration both from the Romans and latterly the Venitians.
Meander the narrow streets of Trogir with its many bars and restaurants, or visit the daily fresh produce and fish markets. Relax on the waterfront or visit the local churches, museums and castle. Savour and enjoy the moments... a plenty !
Zadar - approximately 1 hour 30 by car.
Krka National Park : a wilderness of waterfalls and walkways is approximately 45 minutes north by car.
Plitvice National Park approximately 2 hours.

The apartment is high above Okrig Gornji, some 15 mins walk from shops, restaurant & beach or harbour. Views from balcony were magnificent , with some spectacular sunsets. Quiet location. Apartment is modern, clean, light , and well equiped - though personal preference would have been washing machine, rather than dishwasher. Also, microwave would be useful. The owner, Richard, could not have been more helpful, from initial contact, right through until our return journey. He answered all our queries about the location and apartment, prior to us going, and sorted a 'meet & greet' at Split Airport. Bozena, the local representative, ensured a warm friendly welcome, and she was always on hand, if required. We found the Island location great for exploratory walking , or on hired cycles, around the coastline - very easy to get away from any crowds, even in August. Water Taxi is a terrific service, giving effortless access to Trogir and the mainland. Great holiday. |

This apartment has everything you need for a perfect Adriatic holiday. It has spacious studio where you can prepare your meals, dine and rest on the cosy sofa. Huge balcony with stunning view will make your breakfasts and suppers unforgettable. Sunsets are something to enjoy. The road to the beach is indeed somewhat steep, so consider hiring a scooter (can be done right on the beach) if you are not perfectly fit. Beach is pebble, which is quite usual for Adriatic coast. It has several cafes/pizzerias if you want to dine outside, couple of shops with everything you need to prepare your meals yourself and also a harbour from where boats to Trogir go. At the harbour you can buy fresh fruits throughout the day, also fish boats arrive at the morning and sell fresh fish for you to cook. Water taxis to Trogir are quite frequent and cost little. Trogir, apart from the old city sightseeing and souvenirs, offers a very good market - fruits, vegetables, fresh fish/scampi, olive oils etc. There is no free wifi in the apartment, so if you'd like to go online, you can either pay or go down to the beach where there is a cafe with free wifi. Note that even if you pay for a hotspot access, the best signal is on balcony only. The apartment itself is very good, all furniture and bathroom equipment are of high quality. If I were building a home for myself on Adriatic coast, I'd make it exactly like this apartment. Do not hesitate to call and speak to the owner, Richard, he has answers to all your questions. Bozena, the local manager, is very kind and nice person, she will help you with everything, from getting you from the airport, to kindly letting out her laptop for you to check your emails (for example, she prepared a bottle of local wine and some bread/cheese for us as a welcoming gift!). |
