The Dalmatia region

The arts, heritage and lifestyle, that's central Dalmatia in a nutshell. This makes it a place not to miss - for fun, rest and relaxation while enjoying the 1700-year-old tradition!
In the year 305, the Roman Emperor Diocletian (who had practically the entire known world at his feet), chose the centre of Dalmatia as the place to build the country house in which he would enjoy the last ten years of his life. Today the former Imperial Palace is the settled historical core of Split, Croatia's second largest city and the eternally young, noisy and merry centre of the region's tourism and economy that sets the rhythm, style and cheer for its wider surroundings, the smaller tourist destinations, the islands off its shores and the green hinterland heart of Dalmatia.
Excursions
A number of one-day trips are available from Trogir:-
SPLIT - A town of classical Roman, old Croatian, Romanesque and renaissance architecture, with a Mediterranean atmosphere. Split is easily explored on foot and is a delightful place to while away a few hours. It is a shoppers paradise, whether wandering through the narrow cobbled streets or haggling for bargains at the large outdoor market. When you need a rest, where better to enjoy a cup of coffee than on the expansive marina looking out onto the islands of Brac and Hvar.
MAKARSKA, the centre of the riviera and coastal area, is a natural choice, with its town square, Cathedral of St. Mark, but above all because of the Franciscan Monastery and its rich collections.
PRIMOSTEN, a gorgeous islet 20 minutes north of Trogir. The prefect place to spend a day exploring.
KRKA Waterfalls, one hour north of Trogir. Enjoy a leisurely walk throught the forest, spectacular views of the waterfalls and the chance to swim in the lake.
THE ISLAND OF HVAR The town of Hvar is the biggest settlement on the island and is famous for its lavendar. It abounds in Romanesque and Renaissance buildings, and Mediterranean atmosphere. A must see for a day trip.
DUBROVNIK - A Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque town - all in one, is a must. Located on the very southern end of Croatia.All-day excursions.
MEDJUGORJE - A world famous sanctuary.

The Trogir / Ciovo area
Trogir is a town and harbour on the coastal strip of the Kastela Gulf, 27 km west of Split, with a population of10,266. The old town is situated on a small island between the island of Ciovo and the mainland; connected with the mainland by a small stone bridge, and with the island of Ciovo by a drawbridge. The town is a UNESCO heritage centre, and the majority of the buildings are from the medieval period. It is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, full of small intimate restaurants, bars and ice-cream parlors. Lovers of cultural and historical monuments, original architecture and art can wander around at their leisure, soaking up the history. The waterfront, with its long promenade, bars and restaurants is particularly popular at night. Indulge in some celebrity spotting as luxury boats come in to moor.
Trogir ACI Marina has 200 berths in the sea and 80 places on the land. Their website is www.aci-club.hr.
The wider surroundings of Trogir (Trogir - Seget - Ciovo Riviera) is characterized by lavish green vegetation, numerous islands and islets, rocky and pebble beaches.

We spent 7 nights in this apartment and had a great time from the welcome pack provided, 'birthday cake for my husband and ride at 630am to the airport. The apt was very clean and had everything we needed including dvds to watch when we decided to stay in for the night. We spent most days at the small beach at the end of the road and ate locally at the restaurants. It was a very relaxing holiday |

We spent two weeks in the apartment and were delighted. The views from the balcony are amazing and the apartment itself is very modern and well layed out. We were almost the only people that used the pool so the children had a great time. Plenty to do as well and we managed to keep the children entertained with boat trips, canyoning, castles etc. We hired a car for the two weeks but you could almost get away without as most of what we did was accessible by boat or organised trip. Not expensive to eat out and the food is simply but well done. The pack provided by Hilary is full of useful ideas and she was very helpful with my numerous questions. Croatia, if you have not been is beautiful. |

Really enjoyed our stay at Tudorski. We were a party of four adults and two teenagers and the apartment was very well laid out with three lovely covered balconies with views of the whole area. The teenagers spent loads of time in the pool and had it to themselves most of the time. The whole apartment was very clean and spacious with air-conditioning in every room and we felt very comfortable staying here. The one day that it rained, we were quite happy to sit out on the balcony and play cards all day. Not much on TV for the English but there was a DVD player with lots of films to choose from if you needed some entertainment. Small local shops about a 10 min walk down the hill which had everything you needed. Another 10 min walk further down the hill and you will get to the beach which isn't sand but a type of small shingle. Lots of bars and cafes along the beach but no tourist shops. If you want more to look at then take the ferry taxi across to Trogir which is lovely. Lots of narrow cobbled streets with restaurants and shops and you can walk along the harbour and watch the entertainers performing there. Also, you can look at all the fancy yachts moored up along there too. If you want to go further afield then take a trip to Split which has alot of historical interest there. It was very easy to book this apartment as the owner, Hilary, was so helpful and answered all our questions to the full. She also gave lots of advise about the area which was very useful as we had not been to Croatia before. Once in Croatia, we were well taken care of with transfers to and from the airport arranged efficiently and the apartment caretaker, Bozena, couldn't have been anymore helpful. The small problems that we did have were sorted out by her and her husband straight away and we didn't feel like we were bothering them at all which made our stay even more relaxing. We didn't have a car so we walked or took the ferry taxi everywhere. The walk down to the shops & beach is very steep in parts and you have to be careful of the cars and scooters as the streets are quite narrow in places and there are no pavements. It might not be easy for a family with young children especially when it's time to walk back up! We were mostly adults so it wasn't too bad for us and by the end of the week we actually felt a bit fitter for it. If you would find the hills difficult or would want to venture further afield then I would recommend a car or scooter but for us we weren't in a hurry so managed ok without. Came back home feeling very relaxed and well taken care of. |

We had just the best time in Croatia, such a beautiful place. The weather was perfect and the food was great, being Italian food is very important, ate so many fresh figs that week, heaven. The apartment was fantastic, very comfotable and the view was so lovely. We had 3 of our children with us,all grown up,and they loved it so much that we all agree it was one of the best places we have been to and we definately will be returning there.

We had a lovely time in Croatia and found your apartment was better than expected. We found the covered balcony with table and chairs very useful on the one day it rained as we played cards out there all day which was great spending time together. The beds were very comfortable and the living space was very spacious which was great when there were 6 people in there. We found the people that did the transfers very friendly and found them straight away at Split airport. They were also on time to pick us up going home. Bozena is a gem and couldn't do anymore to make our stay go smoothly. The couple of small problems that we did have she sorted out straight away which was very much appreciated. We found your information sheets about the apartment and surrounding areas very useful as well.

Many, many thanks. This was an easy, pleasant experience from beginning to our sad departure. Booking and communication was to the highest standard, matched by a lovely warm welcome from Bozena on arrival. The apartment is as described - large, modern, clean and well-provisioned. Be aware that the location is up a very steep climb and on the third floor, but this gives imperious balcony views over the village, sea and outlying islands. Parking is available almost at the front door, however, and driving easy in Croatia. Getting to lovely Trogir is easy on the regular water taxi, but the scatter of restaurants in the local village are high-quality in their own right. Trogir is the major draw, but Tudorski is well-situated for trips further afield to Split, Roman Salona, Klis fortress and the Kastela villages. My family (3 kids, 2 adults) had a lovely time here and would happily recommend and return.

We had a wonderful stay here last August/ beginning of September. It really is a super apartment- very spacious and clean -in fact one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. We were a family of seven and there was loads of space. We commented that we have stayed in some places that could have fitted into the master bedroom! Wonderful air conditioning too. It was a bit of a hike up to the flat from the beach when we first arrived by boat from our first week elsewhere- hot sun, heavy cases- but it's amazing how the more times we did the trip, the shorter it seemed. There was always the promise of a dip in the pool when we got home- small but still lots of fun. Shops about 10 minutes away on same level (including supermarket and bakeries) if you didn't want to go down to the beach shops and avoid the hill! The beach wasn't as crowded as elsewhere but that may have been because people were going back to school. Lots of cafes on the beach but not horribly so. We didn't have a car and walked easily round to the next bay a couple of times for our sunbathing just for a change. Water was crystal clear. Beauty of this place was its proximity to the airport- although you wouldn't know you were so close - it was really easy to get home with lifts organised by the landlady.
M. Carr, UK (Aug 2010)
The apartment was really lovely, very spacious, and very clean with beautiful views from the balcony/terrace. We ate outside, breakfast, lunch and dinner when we stayed in! but the restaurants are so good and just a short walk, it was an easy stroll to the bars and on to a restaurant for evening meal. Very good value and
such lovely fresh fish. We enjoyed a few afternoons at the pool which was never very busy! and such a sun trap!
The boat trip to Trogir is delightful and we enjoyed wandering around the old streets with shops, bars and restaurants, the Pizza place you recommended was really gorgeous with very friendly staff!.
We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and they loved the fast banana disco boat into Trogir!
Just one thing with the apartment, perhaps another mirror or two would help the girls get ready for a night out!!
I don't know whether its worth putting but we were caught in huge downpour showers in the evening, I would say to people, don't try and brave it, stay in the bar and wait until it's over, only 10-20 minutes, otherwise you are totally soaked!!!
Great apartment, great scenery, lovely fresh food and the fish platters especially nice.
Sunshine and sea views, very very relaxing, wish I could be transported back!!!!
H. Peel, UK (July 2010)
Fab apartment! Stayed at these apartments in late June for 2 weeks and the apartment looks exactly like the pics on the website The view from the balcony was amazing! Bozena was extremely helpful and informative . The pool was perfect and kept well cleaned but would certainly benefit from more sunbeds , parasols etc. The eating places mentioned in the welcome pack were really good with Leonardos our fave for pizza and Mali Raj for steaks. All in all we had a very relaxing holiday - a trip to Trogir on the water taxi is a must - lovely place at night to have a drink and watch the world go by. Would certainly recommend these apartments and probably will return in the near future.
A. Totten, UK (June 2010)
We had a great time in Croatia! The apartment was excellent, exactly as described and we were all absolutely delighted with it. There was everything we needed and more. We never had any issues whatsoever, Bozena was always on hand offering her help if we needed it and she was very welcoming. The surrounding area was lovely and the views from the balcony have to be seen to be believed. The pizzeria at the bottom of the hill opposite the marina did indeed have the best pizza we have had! Thank you for all your assistance over the past few months and for allowing to use the apartment, it was a truly great holiday.
G. Allen, UK (June 2010)
We had a great holiday and really liked both the apartment and Croatia . Bozena was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. Many thanks for the welcome pack on arrival - my husband found the cold beers very welcome after a long journey! The apartment was very well equipped and we got lots of use out of the gas BBQ on the balcony.
M Newton, UK (June 2010)
We would all like to thank-you so much for a great holiday! We had an amazing time and now rate Croatia highly as a holiday experience. The apartment was stunning and very much suited our needs. Everything was clean, tidy and in excellent condition when we arrived and we couldn't get over the sights from the balconies. Also could you thank Bozena for her hospitality; although we didn't see her much while we were there as we were out all day everyday, the times we did see her she was very friendly and had some very useful advice.
Although we were only there for a few days, we managed to see Split on the first day and then had a beautiful meal in one of the local fish restaurants on the beach, near the apartment, followed the next day by Krka national park and then the beautiful island of Hvar the next, somehow navigating around largely by bus and walking and a phrase book...and a fair bit of help from the English speaking locals.
Thank-you once again and we will certainly be recommending the apartment and the area in future.
S. Barresi, UK (May 2010)
Our time in this lovely apartment was during the 'Ash Cloud' = no airplanes flying situation which did mean that some of our party couldn't get home and some couldn't get out to us (we were staying for 2 weeks) so at times we were a little stressed. However you cant stay stressed for long when you see the beautiful views from this apartment, both during the daytime and also the lovely sunsets. For April it was equivalent to our English summer, although we did have a couple of rainy days, which we dealt with by exploring the old part of Split - very enjoyable.
The apartment is very spacious, very well maintained and is kept very clean by Bozena who lives on site, and her team. She is also a very good source of information and loves to practice her use of English with you.
I was 50 whilst I was there and Hilary had arranged for Bozena to present me with the biggest cake I have seen - it was beautiful and we ate it for days! Thank you Hilary, I will now be fat forever!
This country is very beautiful, make sure you go to Krka National Park near Sibenik, (use the new A1 Motorway Toll Rd for quickness). its like entering Jurassic Park without the Dinosaurs. Costs 80kuna each to get in but will occupy you all day and is really good. Trogir is fabulous, like one giant maze of little cobbled streets and shops. No large superstore shops here.
Everyone is very friendly and we had some lovely meals out - we loved Lucicias which is just on the right as you come down the hill into Trogir - its cheap and very nice!
Okrug doesn't really get going until 1st May so we couldn't use the watersports or water taxis so can't comment on that. However we met a lot of local, friendly people, who although it was 24 degrees thought it was freezing and had their jumpers on. They thought it was really funny that we had sleeveless t-shirts on. Crime is not evident, they leave their cars and motorbikes unattended with the keys in with no problems. Watch out for the speed traps though, especially just outside Trogir, a favourite past time of the police I think!
You will love this place, it allows you to chill out, have a barbecue (which we did a number of times) and not feel cramped at all if more than two of you go. One recommendation though, if you thought our t.v. was bad, you've seen nothing yet! Record/take some DVD's before you go and you will be fine for those who like to watch the tele! Enjoy yourselves - we did!
P. Hulse, UK (April 2010)
Just wanted to say that we had a lovely holiday in Croatia and enjoyed our stay in your apartment. Buzena was very helpful and the pick up / drop offs were very easy. We had some cold and windy weather but this did not stop us exploring. Every one was very helpful and we were impressed by the public transport system on which we travelled far and wide. ( Split, Sibenik, Markaska). Thank you for the use of the apartment. It was a great place to stay. Our visit has wetted our appetite to see and find out more about Croatia.
J.Cockrell, UK (October 2009)
We had the most lovely vacation in Ciovo! This apartment was perfect for us (two adults and five children between 11-18 years) including all the facilities. First of all the view from the balconies was breathtaking! Okrug and Trogir was succesful combination for us: beach, bright water, snorkeling, wandering around the narrow streets of beautiful Trogir, good restaurants and also shopping - what a week! Hilary and Bozena take care of everything you need, thank you for both! And the hill to the apartment was good exercise :). First time in Croatia and we truly loved it!
Highly recommended!

This apartment is modern, clean and equipped to a high standard. It is situated in a quiet elevated spot with fine views of the bay. The air con is efficient for nightime and the appt enjoys a light breeze at times which is very pleasant. Cooking facilities very good and the gas BBQ on the main balcony was a real pleasure to use - meat is cheap and good fish reasonable. Small pool was welcome at times when returning after a day out.
Very relaxing apartment and great sunsets to contemplate. Plenty of restaurants and bars on beachfront, Trogir and surrounds. For a treat and wonderful fish try Freddies (turn left at market in Trogir and maybe after a mile or so - signed on LH side). Not cheap but for an occassion its in a different league in our opinion and reasonable house wine by Croatian restaurant standards at £11 a bottle.
T. Statham, UK (August 2009)
We stayed at the apartment during august 09. There were four adults and we found the apartment to be very spacious and well equipped, it would easily accommodate six. The bedrooms, especially the master bedroom were large as were the lounge and main balcony from where we had lovely views over the sea and mountains, beautiful sunsets! When we arrived the fridge was well stocked and the local representative, Bovena could not have been more welcoming. The apartment is close to the beach and small beach resort, but there is quite a hill when walking back, especially if it is hot, having said that we are all well into our fifties and we managed! The island has some lovely quiet beaches and it is well worth going off the beaten track. Trogir and Split are both well worth a visit, but use the local ferries, they are cheap, reliable and mean you don't have to get stuck in the traffic when leaving the island. The traffic jams at the bridge were the only problem we experienced during our stay and once you accept that it is going to take you twenty minutes to get off the island they didn't seem too bad at least you got beautiful views of Trogir while you were waiting! We had a great holiday and would certainly go back to this apartment in the future.
J. White, UK (August 2009)
WOW!!! What can I say? What a really lovely holiday!! Hilary, thank you so much for allowing us to use your beautiful apartment with such fantastic views in such an idyllic setting. All the family thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I am truly grateful to you and Stephen for letting us share an amazing holiday experience.
Your apartment is so spacious and thoughtfully well equipped that it made everything so comfortable, convenient and easy for us. We loved the fittings and furnishings (including the clock!) and the air conditioning was a blessing, particularly last Thursday and Friday with the temperature reaching an exceptional 40C.
Hilary, you are so lucky to have Bozena and Mio on site – they are such lovely people and dedicated to making everyone feel very welcome. Despite having their own family guests I cannot over-emphasise how helpful they were to us during the whole of our stay. Mio provided all of the transfers to and from the airport and Bozena was so helpful with information and planning our activities – her English is amazing considering she has been using it only for a relatively short period. She also arranged for a beautiful cake to be made for my daughter’s birthday, which was not only delicious (probably the best cake we have ever tasted) but also absolutely enormous! We shared it with most of the residents of the island! We had a really great holiday, Hilary, and felt really chilled out from the moment we arrived in such a beautiful and peaceful location. I am already really missing sitting on the balcony with a cuppa in the mornings and with a Pimm’s in the evenings!!
B. Young, UK (July 2009)
We had a lovely holiday in Croatia. The apartment was super spacious and very comfortable, immaculately clean and very quiet. We really enjoyed evenings on the balcony which was always sunny. Very good value for money even for 2 persons and the lovely Bozena was very helpful and informative. Thank you for a great stay.
S. Thomas, UK (June 2009)
The apartment was everything we wished for. We were 6 adults staying there, which was no problem in the spacious apartment. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and on the barbecue and forgot all about the rain while dining on the covered balcony. The nearby supermarket and bakery at the centre of Okrug Gornji were very convenient, as were Mr. Bole's scooter rental. We had excellent excursions to Split, Brac and Krka and feel we got the most out of our stay considering the weather. CiCiBela's pizza in Trogir came recommended, and rightfully so. Thanks for a delightful time in Trogir and environs,
J. Sveli (June 2009)
We spent a lovely, long weekend in this modern apartment which greatly exceeded our expectations.
Although a bit of an uphill walk from the town, beach etc the views when you get there are well worth the effort and we spent many hours relaxing on the balconies, taking in the fantastic views.
Ideal for two couples or families who still want privacy as the main bedroom with en suite is separated from the further bedrooms & bathroom by the living area.
Transfer & welcome excellent courtesy of the lovely Bozena and her family.
Would definitely recommend.
S. Mills, UK (June 2009)
Just a short note to let you know what a wonderful stay we had at your apartment. The views from all 3 balconies are fabulous and the location with its easy stroll down to the village was great. The apartment is beautiful, well equipped and very comfortable and spacious, and all the little extras in the store cupboard along with the fantastic dalmation ham and wine on arrival was a lovely welcome. A special thank you for all your assistance in also providing a really nice roomy baby cot and high chair in time for our arrival.
J. Ferguson, UK (May 2009)
I stayed with 3 friends at this apartment and we found it to be very clean, spacious and just like the photos. We found the booking to be easy and hassle-free and the owners were extremely helpful and friendly as was the housekeeper who lives in the building. The apartment was brand new, well-equipped and contained all mod-cons. The owners gave us some helpful information about local eateries - by the way, Leonardo's Pizza in Ciovo is fab! The Cove of Mava is a great place to spend your afternoon swimming and sunbathing.
I would recommend this apartment to families holidaying or groups of more than 2 as there are 3 large bedrooms which can easily accommodate at least 6 people. We really enjoyed our stay here!

We had a delightful time in Trogir and absolutely loved your apartment. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us and the views from all 3 balconies were amazing! We spent many a long evening relaxing on the main balcony, soaking in the views while sipping chilled white wine. A perfect way to relax. The location was second to none - a real gem and we will definitely return! Thanks also for the wine and refreshments when we arrived - it was a real treat and very much appreciated after the flight!
