The Dalmatia region
The arts, heritage and lifestyle, that's central Dalmatia in a nutshell. This makes it a place not to miss - for fun, rest and relaxation while enjoying the 1700-year-old tradition!
In the year 305, the Roman Emperor Diocletian (who had practically the entire known world at his feet), chose the centre of Dalmatia as the place to build the country house in which he would enjoy the last ten years of his life. Today the former Imperial Palace is the settled historical core of Split, Croatia's second largest city and the eternally young, noisy and merry centre of the region's tourism and economy that sets the rhythm, style and cheer for its wider surroundings, the smaller tourist destinations, the islands off its shores and the green hinterland heart of Dalmatia.
Excursions
A number of one-day trips are available from Trogir:-

Split is easily explored on foot and is a delightful place to while away a few hours. It is a shoppers paradise, whether wandering through the narrow cobbled streets or haggling for bargains at the large outdoor market. When you need a rest, where better to enjoy a cup of coffee than on the expansive marina looking out onto the islands of Brac and Hvar.
MAKARSKA, the centre of the riviera and coastal area, is a natural choice, with its town square, Cathedral of St. Mark, but above all because of the Franciscan Monastery and its rich collections.
PRIMOSTEN, a gorgeous islet 20 minutes north of Trogir. The prefect place to spend a day exploring.
KRKA Waterfalls, one hour north of Trogir. Enjoy a leisurely walk throught the forest, spectacular views of the waterfalls and the chance to swim in the lake.
THE ISLAND OF HVAR The town of Hvar is the biggest settlement on the island and is famous for its lavendar. It abounds in Romanesque and Renaissance buildings, and Mediterranean atmosphere. A must see for a day trip.

The Trogir / Ciovo area
Trogir is a town and harbour on the coastal strip of the Kastela Gulf, 27 km west of Split, with a population of10,266. The old town is situated on a small island between the island of Ciovo and the mainland; connected with the mainland by a small stone bridge, and with the island of Ciovo by a drawbridge. The town is a UNESCO heritage centre, and the majority of the buildings are from the medieval period. It is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, full of small intimate restaurants, bars and ice-cream parlors. Lovers of cultural and historical monuments, original architecture and art can wander around at their leisure, soaking up the history. The waterfront, with its long promenade, bars and restaurants is particularly popular at night. Indulge in some celebrity spotting as luxury boats come in to moor.
Trogir ACI Marina has 200 berths in the sea and 80 places on the land. Their website is www.aci-club.hr.
The wider surroundings of Trogir (Trogir - Seget - Ciovo Riviera) is characterized by lavish green vegetation, numerous islands and islets, rocky and pebble beaches.

My friends and I spent a fantastic week at this apartment! The property was clean on our arrival and was very spacious, there were even some basic items in the fridge to get us started. We enjoyed many a night eating out on the balcony and taking in the excellent views. The location was great for us as it was ideal for access to various climbing sites (we would recommend Omis) and water sports such as diving and rafting. Hilary was very helpful, responded to my queries quickly and the welcome pack she prepared was also very useful. Bozena was also excellent and was on hand when needed. Overall a great property and I would return on a future trip to Croatia. |

We thoroughly enjoyed an amazing week at Tudorski. The apartment was very clean and spacious, even with 7 of us. Every time we used the pool we were the only ones there which was great. We enjoyed cooking on the BBQ and eating on the balcony watching the sunset and beautiful sea views. We managed without a car just fine, anywhere that wasn't within walking distance (Trogir, and a beach the locals went to, beginning with D, can't remember the name but it was so stunning) we got Mr V. to take us (a real character and very reasonable prices). The supermarket and main beach are within walking distance. One day we did a 'fish picnic' boat trip which was great fun, which included visiting Solta - very beautiful! We spent two evenings in lovely Trogir, a world heritage town, where they have some fantastic restaurants. The welcome pack we received was full of useful information and ideas. Croatia is so beautiful and excellent value for money. I would recommend staying at Tudorski apartment to anyone, it is a very special place and we had the most fantastic, relaxing week. |

This is a lovely modern apartment looking over the beautiful bay and islands of this part of the Dalmation Coast. Very spacious, with large balconies and plenty of facilities. Good size bedrooms and comfortable beds. Swimming pool was a good size too, and pleasant to have a dip after the climb up the hill from the village. You do have to be fairly fit, as it is a climb, takes about 10 -15 minutes depending on how fit and how hot it is. It didn't bother us, especially in the evening after a meal, quite nice to walk it off. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and a beautiful beach about 20 minutes walk round the coast. I would certainly reccomend a stay in this lovely area and comfortable apartment. Transfers were also arranged back to the airport, very efficient and reliable, and takes the worry out of organising taxis. |
