The East Ireland region

Situated in the heart of Meath,and on Dublin's doorstep , this cottage is an ideal base to explore a region steeped in history. Only 7 km. away from the historic market town of Trim on the River Boyne, home of King John's Castle and location for the film Braveheart.Close by also to the Hill of Tara which was the ancient seat for the High Kings of Ireland. A little further afield is Newgrange, an ancient burial mound which predates the Pyramids!

Also within easy reach of Dublin and only 7 km from the M4 motorway which is the main link route to the west of Ireland.


Rathmolyon is an unspoilt traditional rural village in the heart of an agricultural hinterland and has it's very own thatched pub ,post office and church (listen for the bells at noon).

Trim is an historic market town, and home of Trim castle which has guided tours available.Excellent golfing is available at the local Trim Golf Club and also at Knightsbrook ,Tara Golf Club and Kileen Castle Golf Club.

Slightly further away is the busy town of Navan with excellent shopping and dining facilities.

Within easy reach of several world famous racecourses including Fairyhouse the Curragh and Leopardstown.

Excellent trout fishing is available locally on the nearby Boyne River

Definitely worth a visit to nearby Neolithic tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth , A UNESCO World Heritage Site with an excellent Interpretive Centre.

Dublin City is 40 minutes away with a myriad of sightseeing , cultural and shopping experiences available.

It's proximity to the excellent M3 and M4 motorways make Little Acorn Cottage an ideal base to explore from ,and the delightful old world ambience make it an ideal place to relax and unwind after a busy day.
