Familes love the farm, children and adults can partake in the daily farm duties with farmer Micheal, it is most enjoyable and they learn so much about life on a farm, a ral hands on experience. Children learn to milk a goat, bootle feed the kid goats and pet lambs and lots more. Children never get bored here in fact so many children just dont want to go home when the time comes. We also run an outdoor farm summer camp in July and August, it runs from 10 - 1 daily Mon - Fri, children can join and this gives the parents a little time to themselves to have a little treat in the nearby town of Trim, or even up to the beautiful new coffe shop on the Hill of Tara. The children are fully supervised by qualified teachers.

The East Ireland / County Meath region
Kiltale is close to Dublin in the heart of County Meath.
County Meath is the heritage capital of Ireland located on the East coast, often informally called The Royal County. Trim has a historical significance, the oldest remaining Norman castle in Europe where the film Braveheart was filmed is locted in the centre of the town, along with many other historical sites that can be visited as you walk along the new River Boyne walk. Meath is also home to Kells, with its round tower and monastic past, and Slane, known both for its castle, and annual rock concert. Kiltale holiday homes are only 10 minutes drive from the Hill of Tara seat of the high Kings of Ireland, Newgrange burial chamber older than stonehinge and yhr Pyrtamids are also close by. Fairyhouse racecourse home to the Irish Grand National is also within easy reach.
Meath (the "middle") was once a province of Ireland in its own right - see Kings of Mide - but now forms part of Leinster. Historically this province of Meath included all of the current county as well as all of Westmeath and parts of Cavan, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth and Offaly. The High King of Ireland sat at Tara in Meath. The archaeological complex of Brú na Bóinne, including the 5,000-year-old burial site Newgrange, in the northeast of the county, is a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.
Trim area
If sport is your passion there are a wealth of attractions within easy reach of Kiltale holiday homes. Located at the heart of the Boyne Valley fisheries, there is also an abundance of attractive golf courses designed to challenge the most determined golfer. The new Jack Nioclas designed Kileen Castle G olf Corse which hosts the Peltz school is only 5 minutes drive from Kiltale Holiday Homes. Whatever your interest, be it horse racing, shooting, swimming or pitch & putt, you'll be spoilt for choice during your stay.
If you do not feel like city driving you can hop on the bus just outside our gate and take a day trip to Dublin and ride on an open top city bus tour taking in Guinness brewery, Phoenix Park ( the largest park in Europe) and Trinity college; hopping on and off and exploring the city at your will.
The National aquatic centre is great for a rainy day and includes a 50m pool, diving pool, surfing machine, water roller coaster, wave pool, lazy river, Water slide and much more. Also Dublin ZOO
The Book Of Kells is the most decorated illuminated manuscript to survive from early medieval period in Europe. Created by the Columban Monks on the remote Island of Iona. The original can be seen in Trinity College Dublin.
The River Boyne is a name that resonates with history and adventure. It was on the banks of this famous river that the Celtic chieftain William of Orange defeated the Catholic armies of exiled James II of England in 1690.
The passage tomb of Newgrange, built over 5000 years ago, is one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in Western Europe. It is neighboured by the passage graves of Knowth and Dowth, all of which were erected before the Pyramids of Egypt. King John's Castle, Trim, standing proudly and defiantly on the banks of the river Boyne, is the largest Anglo-Norman Castle in Europe, dating to 1172. Sections of the hugely successful film Braveheart starring Mel Gibson were filmed here. The Hill of Tara is located just a pleasant drive from Kiltale House & Cottage. Sitting on top of Tara is the most famous of Tara's monuments - Ireland's ancient coronation stone, 'The Stone Of Destiny'. Also located there is the Mound of the Hostages - a megalithic passage tomb, dating to about 2,500 BC. Loughcrew Cairns are another of the hidden gems of the Boyne Valley. The Cairns are a group of passage tombs in a magical setting dating from the Neolithic (c. 3,000 B.C.). Cairn T, one of the largest in the complex, has impressive examples of prehistoric art and is also the site of the famous hag's chair. Bective Abbey, located close to Kiltale Holiday Homes, proudly overlooks the Boyne, the second Cistercian Abbey to be established in Ireland, following the immediate success of Mellifont. Although most of the present impressive ruins date to the 15th century, the abbey was originally founded in 1150 by Murchadh O Maelsheachlainn, King of Meath, a smaller abbey having been built in the 15th century to replace the earlier Gothic complex. The abbey was one of the most important monastic sites in the country, and the Abbot of Bective sat in the Parliament of the Pale. The abbey was closed in 1536 on the general suppression of the monasteries by Henry VIII, and was modified into a manor house and handed over to civil servants as reward for their loyal work.

Guestbook for The Stable
I loved my stay on the farm, each day I worked with farmer Micheal, I learned to milk Rosy the cow, take the milk in the bucket and feed here baby calf called Jim Brown after my dad. Each time we go on a holiday we christen an animal after my dad. I am 8 years old from U.S.A and I enjoyed my big holiday.
This a a beautiful spot, we both enjoyed our stay, we were right in the middle of all the historic sites, and we took the bus from outside the gate into Dublin, it was great, we did not have the hassle of city driving. An ideal spot for a retired couple. Before we left we booked our holiday for 2009. Mary and Micheal did so much for us , they took us to the tradition Irish music session in Dunsany Fopoptball club. It was very good. Bobby and Nellie, Toronto , Canada
