Home description
Il Giardino Segreto is an original centuries old farmhouse divided into three adjacent parts; La Casa Vecchia (sleeps 5), La Casa Padronale (sleeps 5) and the annex La Cantina (sleeps 3) each with their own entrance, living-room, bedroom and bathroom. La Casa Vecchia has a kitchenette and the Casa Padronale has a well-equipped kitchen, La Cantina has no cooking fascilities but does have a fridge, toaster and kettle. Each part can be rented or the whole house can be let for a large family of 10-11 or a group of friends. Easy access to the Dolomites, Prosecco winehills, lakes and cities such as Venice, Treviso and Feltre. Many long walks start straight from the house-maps and detailed descriptions available.
We've compiled an information book for the use of our guests containing recommended restaurants and other fine eateries, places of interest, local attractions, market days, exhibitions, day trips and detailed descriptions of long and short walks and/or bike rides starting from the house.

The North East Italy / Veneto region
The house is situated in TOVENA at the foot of the PASSO SAN BOLDO-gateway to the Dolomites to the north and easy motorway access to the east for visiting VENICE, TREVISO and PADUA. To the west are the PROSECCO vineyards and their excellent wine producers and the seaside to the south.
Treviso / Cison di Valmarino area
Many long walks or mountain bike rides start from the house. In the nearby village Cison there is a walk for children made by children along side a small stream with waterfalls.
Cheap railway service from Conegliano (15 min. drive) to Venice, Treviso and Padua.
Easy road access to Asolo, Bassano del Grappa and Vincenza. Several lakes nearby for excellent wind surfing, boating and a refreshing swim.
Prosecco wine festivals from April to September. Art and craft festival every August in Cison di Valmarino. A good selection of restaurants within 5 km and a friendly family run osteria almost next door.
The closest ski slopes are available at Zoldo Alto, at a height of 2000 metres and are within 60 km from the house.
How to get there
Il Giardino Segreto is 55km from Treviso Airport and 77km from Venice Marco Polo Airport Cheap flights available from Easyjet and Ryanair. Car hire is recommended for convenience and to get the most out of the area. Look at www.EasyTerra.com for good deals.

Further details indoors: The Casa Padronale (85 sq.m) can accommodate a family with two/three children or four/five close friends. The big french windows lead directly from the garden into a spacious living-space / kitchen with an open fire. There is a big table for six and two comfy sofas;one of which is a single sofabed.
The kitchen has a four - ring gas cooker with an electric fan oven, dishwasher, pantry with fridge and microwave. (A washing machine, sink and hot water tap is in the barn).
A wooden staircase leads up to the converted hayloft with its old exposed wooden beams and wooden floor. On the landing separated by curtains there are two single beds and the suite with an antique double bed.
The modern bathroom has a shower with red tiles, a toilet, bidet and washbasin. For more detailed information regards the other house La Casa Vecchia and/or the Cantina see our website or contact us by phone or email.
Further details outdoors: The big green wooden gate at the beginning of the house provide a pleasant private sitting-out area and a safe and sheltered play space.
Parking is available in the square immediately opposite the house. Bikes, motorbikes or windsurf equipment can be safely locked in the barn overnight.

Rent includes all utilities, and linen. Gas for central heating is metered and charged at cost ( approx. 10-25 Euros per day. Logs for the stove and open fire can be bought directly from us (8 Euros per box).
We ask for a 25% of the rent as a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. The balance is to be paid on arrival either in Euros or Sterling.
Home-made bread, jams, marmalades, chutneys, biscuits and simple evening meals can be ordered with your booking.
