Tremezzo area
Mezzegra here on April 29, 1945, was closed an important chapter of Italian history, when Benito Mussolini and Claretta Petacci were shot at the gate of Villa Belmonte at Giulino (di Mezzegra fraction).
The historic centre of Bonzanigo dates back to the sixteenth century: his sumptuous palaces frescoed (Brentano, Rosati, Abbate, Casa del Bishop) show the success of families emigrated to Germany: Another monument, the Parish Church of St. Abbondio, dominates with a view of the lake.
You can make excursions in Lugano, St. Moritz, Milan, Como, Verona, Italy Campione D'(Casino). The summer event for excellence is the Feast of St. John on Comacina, with the procession bearing the relics on the island and the fireworks display reminiscent of the fire at the time of Frederick Barbarossa. Spring is characterized by the great flowering of azaleas that can be visited at the park of Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo.
