Please note that we have 3 pet dogs at the property living with us in the attached barn. These are well behaved and child / pet friendly.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Correze region
Limousin is often referred to as the French Lake District, and comprises the flatter northern Haute Vienne, agricultural Creuse, and then the rugged beauty of the lakes and forests of the Correze itself.
Many visitors liken the locality around Theil as like a mini Canada.
The Treignac / Theil area
Treignac is one of France's most beautiful villages, with medieval shops and houses, and the river Vezere flowing through it'sgorge below. There are 2 family friendly restaurants and 3 bars. Other nearby plus beaux villages to visit include the red brick Collonge le Rouge, Turenne, Curemont, Saint-Robert & Segur-le-Chateau. Also the tragic martyr village of Oradour-sur-Glane, preserved untouched since June 1944.
There are markets most days in villages or towns, and a full list of local events will be provided for the rental period.
There is a 9 hole golf course at Peyrelavade within 30 minutes, set at 800metres on the spectactular Millevaches plateau.

Water sports at Lac Vassiviere within 45 minutes.

I have actually stayed here twice and fully intend to return. The accomodation is delightful and the hospitality offered by the English hosts is excellent. The house is literally in the middle of nowhere so if it's peace and quiet you're after, you're in the right place. I have never seen so many stars as there is absolutely zero light pollution. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there are numerous small ,interesting towns to visit not too far away. Do take advantage of the offer of an evening meal because the lady of the house is an amazing cook and you definitely wont be disappointed. Superb value for money and I can't wait to go back! |

We stayed here following a recommendation from friends . A beautiful setting in the middle of a tiny hamlet of 5 houses in a beautiful part of France . Mark and Kay met us from the airport and made us welcome straight away . A 40 minute drive from the airport found us at the gite . It is in a most beautiful location in the french countryside , with stunning views from the property over the garden . The property has been built to a very high standard and has everything required for a comfortable and relaxing stay . The location is remote but a 10 minute drive will find you in the lovely town of Treignac with everything you require from bars and restayrants , to shops . Mark and Kay will be more than happy to tell you where anything is and also to advise you of places to visit while you are in Correze . |
