About the home

Delightfully situated on the edge of the unspoilt Roseland Peninsular, and convenient for both coasts, Heligan & Eden, Carwinnick is a small hamlet of five properties. Three we let out as holiday lets, the fourth we live in!

Built of brick/cob, Carwinnick Barn has been renovated to a high standard, and was completed in 2008. The property is centrally heated and double glazed, yet retains its undoubted character, with oak timber floors and exposed stonework, log burner and newly fitted kitchen and bathrooms.

Grounds and grounds of over an acre to play in!

Carwinnick Barn has a large lounge with corner fireplace and log burner. Flat screen TV, French doors leading onto a two tiered limestone patio with teak table/chairs. Kitchen with built in cooker, fridge, together with dishwasher and washing machine. Two double bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. The twin bedded room has its own bathroom. There is a large landing area with oak flooring and leather sofa and picture window. The property benefits from both central heating and double glazing.

Further details outdoors:
The two barns together with the cottage stand in gardens and grounds extending to around 2 acres. The majority grassed and making it an ideal area for children to play and explore. There is a small copse where bluebells flower in the spring. In addition we have set over 3,000 daffodil bulbs since we have been here!!
The former enclosed farmyard is a wonderful sun trap and catches the setting sun and is laid out with limestone paved patios to provide both sitting and outside eating areas, weather permitting!!
The cottage and two barns have their own drive to the rear with ample off road parking.

We live on site and are more than happy to give advice on beaches, walks, local pubs & restaurants.

Babysitting is available - subject to availability.

The West Country / Cornwall region

Pam & I moved to Cornwall in 2005 and to Carwinnick in 2006. We love both! If you are looking for peace and quiet, the main disturbances are owls, pheasants and the cry of the buzzard. We live on site in Swallows Barn (there are plenty of those too!). Whilst converting the barns we also found we had a wide variety of bats including both Greater and Lesser Horseshoe!

As we are on site we are only too happy to recommend a local walk, pub, restaurant or beach. I play golf at Perranporth but can recommend other golf courses in the area.

Carwinnick is a delightful rural retreat on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula, yet convenient for both the north & south coasts. Truro is 20 minutes drive and beaches on both the north and south coast are readily accessible.

The Tregony / Carwinnick area

We are located on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula, a hidden gem of unspoilt beaches and rolling countryside and acknowledged as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have walked extensively on the coastal paths and have several circular walks for the energetic.
We can organise golf locally and keep trying the local hostelries and restaurants if advice is needed.
For those wishing to visit the excellent Lost Gardens of Heligan & Eden these are 4k & 11k away.
There is a thriving street market in Truro (13k) on Wednesdays & Saturdays and this cathedral city is well worth a visit.

“Excellent standard of accommodation and use of space” The barn offers lots of space whilst keeping cosy feel. We hired both the cottage and barn and were able to sit all 13 of us around the table in the barn comfortably! We were made to feel extremley welcome by Nigel and Pam, offering us useful local information ontop of that in the welcome packs. Great location with easy access to beaches, caves, shops and pubs. I would definately return one day.

“A beautifully maintained property in a lovely setting.” Carwinnick Barn is set in tranquility and the property itself and the grounds are excellently maintained. The Barn is well equipped, very warm, comfortable and positioned within easy reach of the towns. Used as a base for walking The South West Coast Path, the property met all our needs and I would certainly consider staying there again.

“Tranquil setting close to all the beautiful villages and beaches” Perfect rural location that was very peaceful but yet so close to all the beautiful villages and beaches and cliffs and coves.The house was very nicely finished and was very comfortable.The owners on site nearby were so friendly and helpful.

“Scenic, great location, wonderful hosts” We stayed for 1 week in early July, despite the poor Weather had a wonderful relaxing week. Great facilities in the barn, we travelled light with 2 adults and 1 x newborn - this barn would easily take 3 x couples. Very spacious, attention to detail and aimed to cover all bases. All appliances fitted which saved the traditional weekend of laundry upon our return! Grounds are beautiful and on a balmy Summer evening would be fantastic for dining al fresco! Sadly rain prevented this on the whole for us. Will definitely return in 2013 as this was located superbly for travel to ll corners of Cornwall. 15 mins to South Coast Beaches, 30-45 to Northern Coast favourites. Very rural but close enough to all amenities. Final note to Nigel & Pam who live on site and offer complete privacy but are always on hand for advice as and when required. All in all thouroughly enjoyable and would recommend to Couples, Small and Medium size families, groups of friends.

“Wonderful holiday property in a great location” We have just returned from a week's stay at Carwinnick Barn and really enjoyed our visit. Our semi-detached property had 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 twin, all en-suite), a great open-plan living/dining-room and a well-equipped kitchen. Everything was clean and comfortable throughout and this was perfect for our group. Booking with the owners was very easy; they lived on-site in a separate property so were on hand if we needed anything. Best of all was probably the location though; we were able to use the barn as a base to visit many different parts of Cornwall (Padstow, Newquay, Falmouth, Fowey, Mevagissey, St. Ives, Land's End and St Michael's Mount etc). Highly recommended.

“An excellent cottage” A loveley three bedroomed bar conversion. The owners were there to welcome us and provided all we needed plus some extra grocery items. We had a lovely long weekend with our two grown up sons there girlfriends and a young family friend. The cottage was clean and well equipped and we have no reservations in recommending to others.

“Well appointed barn in peaceful location” This is a very comfortable holiday let. The location is very quiet down a very quiet lane with minimal traffic, so it is very peaceful. It is however within easy reach of a wide range of attractions, beaches, coastal walks, pubs and restaurants. There are other properties on site so it lends itself well to larger groups and families. The owners are also on site and are enthusiastic walkers. They know the local area intimately and provide great advice on where to go, what to see, where to eat and so on. There is so much to see and do in the area that you would never tire of going back!
