About this location
The Gwynedd region
The Snowdonia/Gwynedd region is one of outstanding beauty. We are located very close to the Snowdonia National Park and are also close to the beautiful beaches on Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula. The area is in the main slate quarry area and has a historical museum at Llanberis along with the hospital and 2 rebuilt cottages from different eras. Being in Wales of course its not sunny all the time but when it shines the place looks beautiful and is very warm.
There are many places to see and lots to do. Plas Menai watersport centre, Plas y Brenin outdoor pursuits centre. Greenwood centre. Snowdon Mountain Railway - all the medieval castles at Caernarfon, Beaumaris & Conway.
National Trust properties - Plas Newydd, Penrhyn Castle, Bodnant Garden, Electric Mountain, Llanberis.
We have an academy golf course on site and a driving range along with a crazy golf for the kids. Ladies - take some time out and get rest - send the boys up the road and you get some peace!!

"A charming cottage in a beautiful area"
I stayed in the Old Granary with my family for two months in July and August 2012. The place was recommended by a friend from Bangor. The fist impression was very good; the cottage was recently painted and well decorated, with a traditional style. The high ceilings with wooden beams give amplitude and charm to the house. Sofas and beds were very comfortable and there is a lot of light, especially in the dining room, which has a large window. The kitchen is open to the dining room and has a dish washer. The staff of the cottage was very efficient and friendly. They provided us all the things we asked for. In fact, we had a problem with the washing machine and they changed it for a new one. There are two bathrooms and a shower inside one of the bedrooms; they are clean. The area is quiet, perfect to spend some relaxed weeks. The only problem I found is that in some of the rooms the signal of the mobile phones can be weak, but this is not really important as in other parts of the cottage the reception was OK. I think that the price was good for what they offer.
The surroundings are very nice. Indeed this is one of the best things of the place. The botanical garden is just five minutes far and you can go through it to the Village of Menai Bridge. This small road is perfect for walking or running, as there are very few cars. In about 15-20 minutes walking you are in the suspension bridge over the Menai Strait. The bridge is very impressive and, in the strait, you can see the boats and many different types of birds and animals (we even saw a seal). The area around the cottage is really beautiful, there are big trees, meadows, a small lake, and children have a lot of room to play (lawn areas, there are also some children amenities). There is also a golf course side by side. They organize courses for children at a very good price. My children enjoyed the experience. Besides Bangor, by car or by bus, this area is not far from the cities of Beaumaris, Caernarfon and Conwy (with interesting castels), and to the mountain area of Snowdon.
In summary, a place where I had a very good time and that I would recommend to my friends.
