The Sicily region
With its beauty almost everywhere, lovely coastline and picturesque villages, where you can taste the excellent wine and authentic Sicilian cuisine. Sicily has unspoiled nature and amazing resorts and everything you could possibly want for your holiday!
Here are many places to visit such as Palermo, Monreale, Ustica, Cefalu, Corleone, Taormina and Mount Etna which is Europe's highest and most active volcano, near Catania in the north east of the island. You can visit the majestic monuments in the Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples) of Agrigento and the beautiful Trapani area and Erice, Marsala, Selinunte etc..
The coastsline has much to offer with a landscape of fascinating beauty almost everywhere. You can find hundreds of beautiful beaches. The most famous beaches are: Riserva naturale dello Zingaro, Scopello, Cefalu, San Vito lo Capo, Taormina, Trapani, Pachino, Pozzallo and Marina di Modica.
In Sicily there are groups of wonderful smaller islands that are scattered round the coast, such as, the Aeolian Islands, the Egadi islands, the isle of Pantelleria and the Pelagie...
On the west side of the island there is the Zingaro Nature Reserve (in the Province of Trapani), and also the area of Monte Cofano with its ancient caves in Scurati. Then further more between Trapani and Marsala, in the protected area of Stagnone, is the Via del Sale (The Salt Route) with its windmills for processing salt which some of which are still operating.
On the eastern side of the island is the Baroque architecture, UNESCO heritage site, of Ragusa, Ibla, Noto and Modica. Of extraordinary naturalist interest is the park of Etna.
Traditional puppet theatres in the historic centres of Palermo and Catania are good entertainment for all ages.
Welcome to Trappeto, Sicily! Trappeto, situated in the province of Palermo, Sicily, is a unique Mediterranean pearl on the seashore of the Gulf of Castellammare. Natural beauty of this quaint coastal village is characterized by (two) long sandy beaches, stunning sunsets and surrounding mountainous wilderness.
Irresistible cuisine of Trappeto includes a great variety of fresh seafood-based dishes, tasteful sweets prepared according to traditional recipes and delicious wine from highly appreciated wine cellars.
Romantic seafront of the town is filled with fish restaurants, cafés, cocktail bars, pizzerias, bakeries and ice-cream parlours, and hosts a popular open market during the summertime. Throughout the year local farmers sell on the streets of Trappeto organic fruits and vegetables grown in the fertile soil of the area, and local fishermen welcome gourmands to the port with their rich fish catch.
Besides being perfect for a relaxing vacation, Trappeto is internationally recognized for peace and development activities of the philosopher Danilo Dolci, and known for innovative scientific marine tourism. Furthermore, Trappeto is a strategic place, 30 minutes far from the airport Falcone-Borsellino, 40 minutes far from from the airport of Trapani and located near principal historic, cultural and natural tourist attractions of Sicily.
The capital Palermo is just 40 km away from the town, easily reachable by different means of transport. Medieval city Erice, salt hills and windmills of Trapani, wine paradise Marsala, notorious Corleone with the centre of Mafia documentation, the magic islands of Egadi (Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo), natural reserve of Zingaro, Segesta's ancient Greek temple and amphitheatre are just few of the famous destinations only a stone's throw from Trappeto.
Our vacation rental is in the centre of the sea-town of Trappeto 20 minute from the airport of Falcone e Borsellino. Set on the border between the provinces of Palermo and Trapani, Trappeto offers the visitors unforgettable sceneries, from warm and sandy beaches to the shores dropping to the sea, through suggestive itineraries rich in archaeological and natural beauties, in the typical Mediterranean climate of the island, which holds the record of sun in Europe.
The house is very close to various main tourist areas of Sicily (it is extremely easy to access places like the capital Palermo, Monreale, Segesta temple and amphitheatre, Erice, different magical islands such as the islands of Eolie from Trapani, the island of Ustica from Palermo, fabulous natural reserves such as lo Zingaro, Capo Gallo etc). Trappeto itself is not yet a truly tourist town, but a perfect place for experiencing the real traditional Sicilian life. It is a point of relaxation while exploring the tourist attractions of sunny Sicily.
