The Sicily region
Sicily (Sicilia) is the largest Mediterranean island, and is situated at the foot of Italy near the Northern coast of Africa. It is a volcanic island with Mount Etna, Europe's highest and most active volcano near Catania in the north east of the island. There are hundreds of beautiful beaches where sea of all different shades of blue glisten onto shores of white pebbles and sands. Sicily is an island full of tradition, history , good food and wine.
The Archaeological Park of Selinunte with the Acropolis and various temples one of which is in excellent condition. Motorway 29, exit Castelvetrano-Marinella di Selinunte, approximately 40 minutes from Castellamare del Golfo by car
The National park of Zingaro A string of pearls, seven kilometres long. A long line of peaked walls, harsh headlands, magnificent inlets, deep indentations, underwater grottoes and tunnels, low reefs, narrow valleys, fantastic pebbly sandy beaches that reflect in the uncontaminated sea of constantly changing colours; once blue now azure, turquoise, light blue, further out, a blue, the sky blue. A magnificent place to walk and swim. There are two entrances, one from San Vito Lo Capo and the other from Scopello, about 7 km from the villa.
The ancient seaside town of Scopello is believed to stand on the site of the ancient town of Cetaria, which got this name because of the exceptional abundance of tuna fish in its sea.
San Vito lo Capo is a well-known seaside resort especially because of its beautiful white sandy beach with clear crystalline water. It is about 30 minutes by car from the villa
Erice is a charming medieval town 571 metres above sea level. The charming medieval mountain -top town of Erice is delightful offering the visitor a truly interesting variety of museums, churches, cathedrals and pretty cafes. About 40 minutes by car from the villa.
