The Egadi Star Holiday Flats are situated in the historical centre of Trapani and offer both comfort and privacy. Recently built , they are composed of 1 double/ twin bedroom (some apartments have a 3rd bed), bathroom with shower and living room with fully equipped kitchen, table and a sofa bed. Linen, bath towels and tea towels are all provided. Moreover, some flats have a sea view. Bright and comfortable the apartments all have air condition and heating in each room.

The Sicily region
Sicily, the largest of the Mediterranean Islands, comprises a number of satellite minor archipelagoes; along its triangular perimeter is an endless number of splendid sea resorts and spots, some of which, renowned across the world. Along a roughly 1,000 km-long coastline combine tremendous and varied sea landscapes and colours, archaeological and historical sites, a precious geographical diversity, unspoilt sea-beds, all of what have contributed to make Sicily a cradle of tourism. Most of the resorts are today well-provided with accommodation and tourism facilities. From a tourist point of view, Trapani is certainly one of the richest and better endowed provinces in Sicily. Along its coastline are numerous well-known summer attractions. Bathed by two seas, it boasts both sea and historical wonders with remnants from past ages and dominations. Tourism – along with the salt industry – is today a major resource also thanks to the many accommodation and entertainment facilities grown across the entire province.
Just in front of Trapani (10 min. far by boat) he Egadi archipelago, with the three major islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo – this, at one time linked to Sicilian mainland – combines wonderful, uncontaminated environments and spectacular colours. Like Pantelleria, these also boast an historical importance, their waters and sea-beds conserving remains from the Punic and Roman ages.
San Vito Lo Capo is another province’s main sea resort; with its beautiful sea, beaches and warm climate, it draws thousands of tourists every year. The ancient city of Mazara del Vallo, thanks to its strategic location in the middle of the Mediterranean trade routes, a fishing fleet among the largest in the Mediterranean and fertile hinterland has long been one of the most powerful and prosperous cities in Sicily. The archaeological and naturalistic sites of Segesta, Erice, the Zingaro Nature Reserve – combining unique sea, flora and fauna – the Monte Cofano, and many others make Trapani a most demanded tourism destination.
The gulf of Castellammare bathed by crystal-like waters, alternates rocky (to the west) and sandy tracts (to the east). Its mountainside is also very appreciated by tourists. Scopello, an ancient fishing village, is one of its most frequented spots thanks to unspoilt beaches and sea-floors. Worth-noting is a tuna-fishery restored by the Arabs. This construction is no longer active today, this fishing technique having largely declined. Calabianca, Punta del Grottaro and the so-called Guidaloca, all with a fine shore and crystal blue sea, are some other interesting names in the bay. Castellammare del Golfo was the former port of Erice and Segesta, two important cities founded by the mysterious Elymians. Its harbour was fundamental for the agriculture exports. Its lovely fortress, overlooking the sea, was originally built by the Arabs and since enlarged by Normans and Swabians.
Marsala is the second city in the province after the capital. It derives its name from the Arab occupation when it was an outstanding port. The city, worldwide famous for its omonymous wine, has fine monuments, such as the Duomo, dedicated to Saint Thomas of Canterbury and housing the Tapestry and the Archaeologic museums, and incredible sea environments. Following one of the city main streets visitors are enraptured by unique vistas spanning the Capo Boeo, the off shore Egadi Islands, the Stagnone Lagoon with its tiny islands.
The province comprises the well-known island of Pantelleria. Pantelleria, a volcanic island with jagged coasts, caves, cliffs and crystal blue sea is crowded in summer. It alternates a variety of colours: the black typical of volcanic lands, the green of the mediterranean bush and the blue of the sea.

Surrounding Area: The apartments are located next to the pedestrian area of the historical centre of Trapani, that with its scythe shape faces the delightful Egadi isles. I Nearby there is the “S. Giuliano” golden sandy beach with several Lidos. Also at Torre Ligny,right in the heart of the Centro Storico, there is the beautiful small rocky beach for amazing snorkelling and swimming. Trapani Lidos on the sandy northern shore within easy walking distance of the centre. The Lidos provides a fun & relaxing spot to spend the day on the beach. In the zone you can find many typical bistros and coffee bars where to taste the local culinary specialities ( such as the famous cous cous with fish and the spaghetti with “Pesto Trapanese”, or “pasta with sea urchin eggs”. Typical desserts with “ricotta” or the typical “Granita” are not to miss– the most famous is the one with mulberries from the famous “Colicchia’s bar”). You can find also many places where to taste local wines o simply listen good music.
The surrounding area is also ideal for shopping. Typical are the “Corallari” shops which offer a wide choice of coral jewellery and items. Coral was caught up to the last century in the sea of Trapani. Few steps forward there is the Port from where many international sailing competitions start and form where it is possible to take a hydrofoil or a ferry to reach the Egadi islands. A the marina (near to the “Trapani Yacht Club”) it is possible to rent a boat for tour to the islands or wherever you desire.
What to see in Trapani: Located on the western coast of Sicily, Trapani is a fishing and ferry port with a long history. Nowadays the town is renowned for its fine seafood and Sicilian cuisine, and makes a good base for tourists exploring this part of Sicily. Trapani was a Phoenician trading port, ideally placed for commerce with Africa, Naples and the western Mediterranean. Trapani was an important town throughout the Middle Ages, and it is the medieval phase of the town's past which is most evident in the old town. After bombing during the Second World War, much of the town was rebuilt in a more modern style. But the old town, extending westwards with sea on either side, is still worth a visit. Old palaces, some crumbling and some grand, cluster along the promontory around the central Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Out at the tip of Trapani's headland is the Torre del Ligny, a tower which was part of the 17th-century Spanish defences and now hosts a Prehistoric Museum. A stroll around the largely-pedestrianised old town gives travellers a chance to admire the town's old buildings and landmarks such as the offshore fortress called the Torre della Colombaia or Castello del Mare (Sea Castle). There are several interesting churches in Trapani, including the town's restored cathedral, the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo which, despite its later Baroque makeover, dates to the fourteenth century. The excitingly-named Chiesa del Purgatorio is the home of the sculptures which are carried through Trapani during the town's famous Easter procession. On Good Friday these twenty wooden statues, known as the Misteri, are carried through the streets by robed citizens. A bus trip into the modern part of town will take you to two more of Trapani's tourist attractions, the Santuario dell'Annunziata and the adjacent Museo Regionale Pepoli, the regional museum. The sanctuary is a grandiose and ornate church with chapels including the Cappella della Madonna, home of the town's cherished 14th-century statue of the Madonna and Child. The museum contains an assortment of local exhibits from all eras, including a guillotine, as well as a collection of medieval art. Visit early in the morning, or check opening times before you head to these two attractions: both close for hours at lunchtime and the museum is closed most afternoons. The town's tourist information office, where you can find information and advice on these and other sights, is located in the old town near the port in an ancient building in liberty style called “Casina delle palme” (house of the palm tree). Apart from the procession of the Misteri, Trapani's biggest events include the Operas and concerts held during summer months in the leafy park of Villa Margherita. More processions take place on 7th August, the feast day of the town's patron saint, Sant’Alberto, and on 16th August when a firework display celebrates the Feast of Madonna of Trapani. Note that the town's name is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable: Tràpani.

Spacious, clean and welcoming” bikehippy - UK Review Submitted: 18 lug 2009 We stayed here for a week in July for a relaxing sunny beach holiday. We booked very late but Caterina was able to accommodate us in a beautiful apartment. We had the apartment without the sea view, it was very spacious, clean, well decorated and had a small balcony. Caterina was very welcoming and keen to advise us on some good things to see and places to eat. Wifi internet access was essential to us and it worked very well. The air conditioning was very good, and necessary for us for a few hours in the middle of each day. Trapani town centre is close by and very beautiful. You can get the most amazing ice cream at nearby Marcolito's and there are many good restaurants in the town. Sandy beaches are a ten minute walk away and there was also a sun umbrella in the apartment which we found very useful. We slept very well in the apartment, there is occasionally some city noise but you would probably get that anywhere in a town of that size and it wasn't enough to bother us (we are both quite sensitive to noise!) The only thing I would say is that the apartment doesn't have its own parking space, if you bring a car you will need to find your own place to park which can be quite hard in Trapani. However, it would be easy to have a good holiday in Trapani without a car.leggi tutto

A trio of apartments sharing a main entrance but each with their own door. The building is moments from the pedestrian area of old Trapani, with shops, bars and restaurants in very easy reach. The apartment was clean, comfortable, well maintained and equipped. (The yellow apartment on the plan on the Egadi Star Apartment website) If you want to properly self-cater you might want to ask for a chopping board for the kitchen but if you only want the odd bite to eat and breakfast then you are fully catered for. The apartments is meters away from local bus stop, a couple of minutes walk to the main bus route for Palermo and about 10 minutes stroll to the railway station. If you want the local bus to & from the airport it is €2.20 each from Trapani port opposite the Egatours office. There are also Terravision transfers which use the bus station as drop off pick up point. We arrived at 21:30 on a Sunday so took a taxi which cost €30. Caterina was very helpful and friendly, happy to help with anything we needed or wanted to know - we were made to feel very welcome. The apartment was very reasonably priced. If I had a complaint (and I don't because the apartment is not advertised as having one) the balcony is not big enough to sit on - you have to stand while you watch the magnificent sunsets.leggi tutto
"Perfect for couples" First-timers in Sicily UK Review Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009 Moments from the pedestrian area of old Trapani, with shops, bars and restaurants in very easy reach. One of a trio of apartments sharing a main entrance but each with their own front door; it was clean, comfortable, very well maintained and well equipped. The kitchen has a full size single oven & hob and a good sized fridge/freezer so you don't have to eat out all the time if you don't want to. There are, however, good restaurants within easy reach and being a port, fresh seafood is very definitely on the menu. The apartments is meters away from the local bus stop, a couple of minutes walk to the main bus route for Palermo and about 10 minutes stroll to the railway station. The local bus to & from the airport is the cheapest option at €2.20 each and it leaves Trapani from the Port area opposite the Egatours office. Trapani has a long stretch of public beach which would benefit from a little TLC and enterprise to make it into a 'resort beach' the location is beautiful and weather, even in early May made it inviting. On the port side of the peninsula there are ferries which can take you to the Egadi Islands or further afield to Cagliari or Tunis. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and fully expect to use the apartments again when we return to the area.
