Sea view Marettimo
About the home
The house itself is the perfect retreat for sea and nature lovers wanting to experience the quiet, relaxed atmosphere of this island. Set on a typical alley of the village, this fisherman's house has recently been renovated and converted into a charming accommodation, consisting of two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cosy living/dining area and a delightful balcony offering extensive sea views. The interiors are furnished and decorated in soft summer shades of blue and white, a pleasant combination of sea and nature-inspired colours creating a crisp and fresh look.
Anyone who loves snorkelling, diving, bathing and the sea in general will experience unforgettable emotions: from the close little harbour the local fishermen organize boat tours, which are the perfect way to discover Marettimo's wonderful dramatic cliffs, beautiful seabed, many bays and coves, such as the Grotta del Cammello and del Tuono. Amongst the various activities on the island are also recommended the winding mountain paths which offer lovely walking experiences and amazing panoramic sea views.

Enquire nowThe Sicily region
With its fascinating beauty almost everywhere, lovely coastline, picturesque villages where you can test the excellent wine and authentic Sicilian cuisine, unspoiled nature and fashionable resorts, Sicily has everything you could possibly want for your holiday!
There are many places which are really worth visiting and spending time: Cefalu, Taormina and Mount Etna Europe's highest and most active volcano (3,323 meters) near Catania in the north east of the island, the majestic monuments in the Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples) of Agrigento, the beautiful Trapani area and Erice.
The coasts offer a landscape of fascinating beauty almost everywhere. There are hundreds of beautiful beaches, most famous are: Cefalu, San Vito lo Capo, Scopello, Taormina, Trapani, Pachino, Pozzallo, Marina di Modica and groups of marvelous smaller islands are scattered round the coast: the Aeolian Islands, the Egadi islands, the isle of Pantelleria and the Pelagie...
The west side of the island has beautiful scenery namely the Zingaro Nature Reserve (in the Province of Trapani), and the area of Monte Cofano with its ancient caves in Scurati. Between Trapani and Marsala, in the protected area of Stagnone, is the Via del Sale (The Salt Route) with windmills for processing salt, some of which are still operating, while others are set up as historical museums. An obligatory stop-off is the island of Mozia, once a Phoenician settlement, with the Withaker Archaeological Museum.
The Trapani / Egadi Islands area
Marettimo is the farthest - on the western side of Sicily - and the most mountainous of the Egadi Islands - the ancient Hiera ("sacred island" in Greek language) of the Greeks - is nearly 37 Km away from Trapani, and 600,000 years ago was the first of the Egadi Islands to become detached from Sicily, so allowing the growth and conservation of some curious fauna and flora which are not found elsewhere on the Egadi islands. The unchanged nature is the strong point of this fishing island where car transit is forbidden and everything is within easy walking distance in the only inhabited area The town is divided into three zones following one another in the space of ten or so metres: Scalo Nuovo (where hydrofoils and ferries dock), Scalo di Mezzo and Scalo Vecchio (Old Fishing Ports). The low white houses with bright blue-coloured doors and shutters, narrow roads and Lilliputian-like tiny squares.
Has caught the imagination of some scholars who believe it to be the real "Ulysses' Ithaca" narrated by Homer in his "Odyssey" poem. Boat tours organised by skilled local fishermen will take you on a discovery of Punta Troia and its Castle (XII century) built on a rocky cliff (116 metres high above sea level) overhanging the sea; and then towards several caves as Grotta del Tuono, Grotta del Cammello, Grotta della Bombarda and also to the fantastic area called "i Barranchi" characterized by high and large towers of white and grey-coloured dolomite rock. Just look up and in a moment you’ll feel like you’re inside the Dolomite mountainscapes of Trentino Alto Adige.
Not less spectacular is the landscape - which you can admire along the different footpaths of the hinterland, immersed in the fragrances of thyme, rosemary, Aleppo pine-trees and wild fennel - overlooked from the top of Monte Falcone (Falcone Mount, 686 metres above sea level). Here - suspended between sky and sea - one comes upon the magic and spirit of Marettimo which has been defined "definitely the most beautiful Italian island after Capri" by Fulco Prates. Grocer's 50 MT, Restaurant 50 MT, Facilities 50 MT (Markets, Shops, Banks, Restaurants), Hospital 40 KM (Trapani), Railway station 40 KM (Trapani), Port 100 MT (Scalo Nuovo), Airport 60 KM (Trapani), Sea 50 MT (sandy and pebbly beach).
