The Sicily region

Sicily is art and culture between sun and sea. This land offers pleasure and joy to each and every one of its visitors.

And to think that in the Middle Ages Sicily was described as being "seared and riven by lava and sun, like a hell on earth, inhabited by people more devil-like than human".

Sicily is famous for his architectural remains are amongst the finest of all antiquity. It is not easy to resist the charm of works whose beauty has conquered visitors of every epoch. You can come to Sicily, to see, to learn, to enjoy, to savour what has enchanted all those who have come here in the past four thousand years and to dream.

Trapani

Starting from the small village of Scopello, developed around an old Baglio, it is possible to set out on a wide-ranging journey, visiting the old Tuna Fishing, with its magnificent view on the cliffs and then having a look at the pottery workshops.

The coast is characterized by the white shingly beach of Guidaloca, which is part of the amphitheatre-shaped Gulf of Castellamare. This gulf, which stretches from Capo San Vito to Capo Rama, hosts the town bearing the same name at the foot of its southern rocky slopes.

The town's main activities are closely related to the location and development of the port, which lies in the place of the old emporium of Segesta. Furthermore in Scopello you can enjoy of the beautiful beaches of the Zingaro Reserve, where the prehistoric cave of Uzzo attests to the first human settlements in this area.

"disappointing"

Villa Grecale does have privacy and amazing views and I highly recommend staying in this area. However we were disappointed by a number of factors. Salvatore is very friendly and helpful, but he was… More

I'm disappointed with this review

- I don't remember our appointments, but if i arrived with a delay, was because at the same moment arrive others guests, sure i wasn't in a bar or in a beach

- The mosquito-net of the bedroom works perfectly, simply, you did not know to use it, why did not you say me anything?

- The plug-in are an accessory is not mentioned in the description, no available in more villas, and no necessary because there are the mosquito-net; also the iron or the ironing board, i didn't write you that you found it, the next time direct we remove its, so no one will have anything to say.

- The bathrooms are like the pictures, if you thought that were small for you needs, or the radiator is near the toilets, why did you book it, did you think to found different or bigger bathrooms? ( also who wrote others review nobody talk about it ); in Scopello there are strong constraints landscape and i can ensure, that between the new villas, Grecale is bigger, because usually all the villas are smaller and have only 1 bathroom

- The b&b didn't well, it was simply new, like new were the orange sofa, new outside furnishing in the terrace, the tents, the property painted in april inside in every room and also outside, all these improvements are not visible from the photos, you forgot to write all these things

- About the wind, this week there was wind in all the area, no only in the terrace of Grecale, possibly you would have found the same problem also in another property

- The price is calculated for the property, if you think that this price is more for you, book a smaller property

- About facilities of kitchen, what you have not found or what was not in good condition? Is it possible that only you consider basic amenities?

Next time book another property in Scopello for 700 euro in july with this contemporary view to the village, Tuna Fishing, Zingaro Reserve, all the Gulf of Castellammare, this privacy, this garden, this sea view living-room with big window, same level and size, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, after send me an email and tell me if was better to Grecale

The only thing that really bothers me is that those who are happy never writes a review, this year no one has written one comment, then if there is someone who has something to complain writes the reviews telling half-truths.

It is annoying when a guest tries every excuse to complain into believing things that are not true

"Wonderful week"

My wife and I spent a wonderful week at the Villa Grecale and we highly recommend it. The building itself is very nice, comfortable, and clean. The outdoor area is tiled all around the house making it very nice for walking around, even in bare feet. There is an outdoor shower as well as two showers indoors, but we ended up using the outdoor shower most of the time because it is simply delightful. The views from the villa are splendid, and we spent quite a lot of time relaxing with a book or over a meal looking out over the village of Scopello, the Zingaro Nature Reserve, the Mediterranean, and the old tuna fishery. As the villa is up on the side of the hill, the views really are dramatic, plus if it is hot in the town, it is relatively cool and comfortable at the villa.

Part of the experience here is the village of Scopello, a lovely old village with terrific coffee bars, fine restaurants, and a gentle feel. It is very easy to relax in Scopello. Outside the village is a market where good food and wine are available at very reasonable prices to bring back to the villa.

A significant feature of the area is the Zingaro Nature Reserve which is beautiful in itself and affords excellent hiking and fantastic swimming. The beaches are not crowded, the waters are clear and warm, and have the turquoise colour that one expects in the Caribbean. A highlight of the area.

Our Sicilian trip lasted two weeks, one of which we spent at the Villa Grecale. It was without question the best part of our holiday. Salvatore is an excellent, friendly, and informative host. He looks after his properties well and gave us very good advice about what to see and, particularly, how to rent a car. We will let him give you details of this, but we had an excellent car at a much lower price than we could otherwise have had. We highly recommend Salvatore and his properties at Scopello.

"Scopello Hills"

Having had such great time at another of Salvatore's (our contact's) properties we decided to stay in Scopello for longer. Salvatore arranged Villa Gracale for us. It was up in the hills accessed by a steep winding road, so you need a vehicle. Luckily, Salvatore had arranged on for us - including an airport pick-up. The place had a great feel - very relaxing. It's rustic and authentic with great gardens and an amazing view. Our neighbor was a content looking white horse. We read books and cooked local foods most evenings, staying at the house most of the time apart from the odd trip to the local beaches, which are great by the way. All in all, a very relaxing experience.
