The Sicily region

Trapani , (Zip code 91100), the provincial capital, is 173 km from Agrigento, 241 km from Caltanissetta, 348 Km from Catania, 260 km from Enna, 358 km from Messina, 99 km from Palermo, 309 Km . from Ragusa, 390 Km from Syracuse

The largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily has an abundance of natural and historical treasures.

The island's rich history – its periods under Greek, Arab and Norman influence – have left a unique legacy.

Sicily, artistic and natural beauty with its warm Mediterranean climate.

Trapani is not only one of the most romantic places in Sicily, but the whole of the Mediterranean. It is characterised by long stretches of coast and coastal plains, lavish monuments and palaces, ancient sites, windmills, islands, quaint provincial towns and countryside that beg to be explored. By night, the region should be enjoyed over a glass of chilled wine and fine food in a beachside restaurant—ideally facing west so as to see some of the most spectacular sunsets in Europe.

Trapani

The Province of Trapani is situated between two seas the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea to the north-west of Sicily.

The capital situated at the foot of Mount Erice, one of the most picturesque villages of Sicily.

The city of Trapani is known for salt and sailing and is located opposite the Egadi Islands, a favorite destination for a holiday in the crystal clear sea. Of course, another seaside resort known for its beautiful waters is San Vito Lo Capo, which houses one of the most beautiful beaches of Sicily.

In the Province of Trapani there are interesting artistic centers, such as the historic town of Segesta or the archaeological site of Selinunte.

Among salt, sea and art.

The origins of Trapani has a mythological background: a scythe Ceres dropped mutated in spit of land has given birth to a city called Drepanon ("sickle"). But this is only one of the mythological legends about the origins of Trapani.

From a historical point of view, however, the city was founded by the Elimi before the fall of Troy. To join the Elimi in a peaceful manner are first Sicani and then the Phoenicians from Carthage.

In this period the city enjoyed a period of rich and of a situation of independence.
