The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest region of Italy and currently has almost five million inhabitants. It is also the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and it is surrounded by several smaller islands.

Throughout the history, Sicily has been considered a crucial strategic location from greek to romans to phoenicians to the arabs, the vickings, etc.

Thanks to this extraordinary mixture of people from different countries Sicily is considered to be highly rich in its own unique culture, especially with regard to the arts, cuisine, architecture and even language.

Nowadays Sicilian economy is not based only on agriculture any more (oranges, lemons, olievs, grapes etc), but this same rural countryside and our wondrful incontaminated coast has attracted significant tourism in this last years as its natural beauty is highly regarded.

Sicily also holds importance for archeological and ancient sites such as the Valley of the Temples, the greek temple and theatre od Segesta etc.

Trapani offers a charming historical centre with a lot of historic buildings, city walls and sighting towers. The city is famous all over the world for its corals and for tuna fishing. Nowadays Trapani is the italian capital of sailing. It is also called “ the town of the two seas” because the north side coast of the town is on the Tyrrhenian Sea, while the east one is on the Mediterranean Sea.

The most important economic activies are the extraction and the trade of salt, the trade of the famous marble of our zone, and of course the tourism. Other flowered activities were and are still fishing of tuna fish and the manufacturing of coral.

Cielo Mare Apartment, is located on the “tramontana walls” of Trapani, the old defensive bulwark of the town, today recovered in a tourist way and become a special place for fascinating walks under the moon and for days to spend at the beach. This zone was inhabited by fishermen and sailors and all along the area there are attestation of their stories.
