The County Kerry region

County Kerry is Irelands most popular tourist destination, with the main tourist attractions of the lakes of killarney, Dingle Penninsula and the Ring of Kerry all within an hours drive.The spectacular coastline from rugged sheer cliffs to some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Ireland like Inch and Banna.

The countryside ranges from rich farmland to wild mountains that rise steeply from the sea which makes it fine touring country. Killarney and the Ring of Kerry is an area of two long peninsulas dotted with secluded beaches and coves which rise up to the highest mountains in Ireland. Muckross House and Gardens and the National Park are other tourist attractions in Killarney. Fungi the Dolphin has come to live in Dingle Bay and is loved by all.

Tralee

Tralee the capital of Kerry is truly a unique city. By most standards it would be classed only as a country town, yet it has more places to visit, more entertainment and sports facililties all year round. It hosts the world famous "Rose of Tralee" festival in mid august and the Saimsa Folk Treatre of Ireland.

There are a dozen golf courses within a half-hour drive of Tralee, a steam railway, an indoor Sports Centre and Museums. For the younger folk there is Toby World and the AquaDome waterworld and a brand new 8 Screen Omniplex Cinema.

Tralee has excellent shopping both in the town centre and in the Manor West Retail Park. Fenit is the home of Tralee Sailing Club and the Tralee/Fenit Sea Angling Club. Fenit is 8 miles from Tralee. The Kingdom Greyhound Staduim has been developed to the highest standard provides racing twice weeekly.

Tralee has many other attractions which would be expected in a town of its size including a Bowling Alley, Snooker Hall and Equestrian Centre

"lovely large yet cosy house, 5 mins to shops, 10 to 30 mins to all attractions"

We absolutely loved our visit to Tralee and the house exceeded our expectations. Ideally located 5 miles outside Tralee and situated off the Killarney road everywhere is within a short drive. There's loads of room for all the family, there are only 5 of us but the house could easily accommodate 10.
The owners were very welcoming and provided everything a family could want, a well equipped kitchen, all mod cons, huge lounge kitchen diner, large sitting room and an open fire and log burner. Plenty of outdoor space with slide, swings, lawns and views.

"Beautiful house, very private in a tranquil setting"

The house was lovely and we all had a great holiday. It makes a great holiday home, fairly close to Tralee and easy access to roads for travelling elsewhere in Kerry etc. The downstairs shower/toilet did not work which made it difficult for the person sleeping downstairs as they had to utilise one of the ensuites upstairs as there is no separate bathroom. Apart from that the house was absolutely marvellous and we would stay there again!! Siobhan was quite helpful and honest, I had to chase her a couple of times but she always responded. All in all we had a great time and would use this holiday home again without hesitation.

"Nice House, good location, but disappointed"

We arrived and the house was as described except that the bottom floor bathroom was out of order, which we were not informed of before but by a note on the bathroom door. My husband had spoken to Siobhan the night before and she never mentioned it. This was a disappointment because my 79 year old mother -in-law walks with a cane after knee replacement was going to be staying in the bottom floor and use this bathroom. We contacted Siobhan and explained that it would be difficult for mother in law to climb stairs. She said she would have someone come out to repair it the next day and we said we would help my mother in law to the upper floor where she had to sleep and use the toilet for the first night. After three days of us contacting Siobhan we realized that the toilet was not going to be fixed regardless of what she kept telling us. We stayed here for 6 nights leaving a day early to stay closer to the airport. This inconvenience diminished the enjoyment of our stay and especially proved inconvenient for my mother in law. The house is described and being good for people with mobility issues. We rented this house mainly for the sole idea that my mother in law would be able to stay on the bottom floor. I understand things happen, but don't feel anything was done to help improve the situation and suspect the toilet may have been out of order for some time and that may be why Siobhan did not think to mention it to us. Therefore I feel the house was not as promised nor was anything said to inform us prior. Siobhan did not call us once nor come to the house once while we were there. She did come once while we were out sightseeing to drop off the sheets for the bottom bedroom but we couldn't use it because it would have been dangerous for my mother in law to attempt to climb the stairs to use the toilet without us in the middle of the night as seniors often have too, as we were all staying in the other bedrooms upstairs, All contact was on our part and through our cell phones to her as no phone in the house. The last day we couldn't reach her at all to tell her we would be leaving and to discuss our disappointment. It's possible she did't want to hear from us, but we won't know because we couldn't discuss it in person. My husband called her from our next location to explain we had left etc. I feel we tried to give her and the house a fair chance but I could not recommend to a friend mainly because of the lack of available communication with her. We had emailed her before arrival also to get the final address the day before our arrival and finally had to call her that night at which time she informed us that she doesn't check her email often. I was not new to renting as I rented 3 other homes and stayed at 2 B & B' s during our three week stay in Ireland, England and Scotland. All other rentals were such a different experience.
House was nice and clean but there were no instructions on how to run any amenities, luckily we had stayed at the other rentals and we, at this point , were familiar with how to run these. I still couldn't figure out the oven and so we couldn't cook in it, not a big problem for us as we just adjusted how we were going to cook things by using stove top, but may affect others. Actually before I couldn't get oven to work I was trying out the cookie sheet that was left for our use and it didn't even fit in the oven. I tried it both ways, so I'm not sure if anyone has ever used it in the oven. Towels were not provided but I WAS informed of that from the beginning, so we just bought some inexpensive bath towels and we had brought facecloths. Grocery store within driving distance, close by at mall. Tralee is a nice little town with tourist information, went to Aquadome and Cinema nearby. Catholic church local and other attractions that we didn't have time to visit. Used this location as a base for visiting family in Killarney and day trips to Dingle, Cork, Killarney and Shannon. I wish there had been more reviews before we rented and hope others will have a different experience with Siobhan.

my family was delighted with house.owner was very honest,friendly and helpful.house was very private yet close to town.would stay there again.
