This attractive rated ground floor apartment is the ideal base for your holiday in Scarborough. It has all the home comforts you would need, including full gas central heating. The lounge with cosy pine fireplace and electric coal effect fire, Sony PlayStation with variety of games, there is a three seater leather sofa bed with spring mattress to sleep two, two leather tub chairs, dining table to seat five, wide screen tv with digital stations, and DVD player. The large bay window has a pleasant outlook over the Albemarle Crescent gardens and church, this has ample parking around the park but the flat has its own free private off road car space.

The main bedroom has good quality comfortable beds comprising of double and single for couple and one child or twin so quite versatile, plenty of drawer and hanging space, flat screen t.v .

Good sized modern bathroom with three piece suite in white and electric shower over the bath

The kitchen is very well equipped with a small breakfast table and chairs for two, a good range of kitchen units with ceramic hob cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine and dishwasher.

This apartment is very close to the main shopping precinct and only 10 mins walk to the beach, or there is the cliff lift that takes you down to the beach which is in the central town area, only 5 mins walk to the railway station and only 2 mins walk to the bus stops for various journeys ie Whitby, Bridlington, York etc.

This apartment is quite versatile with one bedroom which has a double and single bed, and sofa bed sleeps two, and very fairly priced, this will be my tenth season in this flat and all who have stayed have loved it with lots of returning guests, and there is a visitors book to show the lovely comments I have received FREE unlimited broadband with WiFi.

The Yorkshire region

Scarborough is the UK's first official holiday seaside resort, which is the largest on the Yorkshire dinosaur Coast, and is set in the beautiful north Yorkshire moors, from which you can tour around to all of the little villages and places of interest of which there are too many to list.

Only a few miles by car to Whitby in Goathland heartbeat country. Originally an early medieval settlement, and has the ruins of an 11th century Castle sitting on top of a very rocky headland, which is surrounded by the north and south bays of Scarborough.

The small resort of Filey only a short car journey away, and Bridlington about 18 miles down the coast. The city of York is a mere 40 miles away, with 'flamingo land' zoo and theme park which is very close to market town of Pickering which is only about 18 miles drive.

I could write lots more about this whole area with its outstanding natural beauty, but the best and most exiting way is to just come and explore for yourself. In all the years I have lived here the climate has never been too harsh in the winter, mild and sunny spring, and nice warm summers reaching up to 27c, which makes it an all year round experience, and has something to offer everyone from the very young to the old.

Town Centre, Scarborough

Scarborough is an absolutely beautiful place to choose a family holiday, originally a little fishing town which still has a lovely harbour which has been regenerated to a good standard including modern pontoons.

This area is known as the old town which is very popular for tourists with a good selection of bars, cafes, restaurants, amusements. The town is still growing with lots of well known high street shops, designer boutiques, and a good shopping mall ' The Brunwick Centre' with between 35-40 retail outlets, good if the weather changes.

The night-life is something else, quite funky and upbeat with a great selection of trendy bars, and nightclubs to dance the night away.

Over the bridge is the lovely South cliff, a very grand area which is steeped in Victorian history with its beautiful architecture, and award winning 'Italian gardens', funicular cliff lift which takes you directly down to the beach and Spa Complex which does a variety of events, famously including the popular open-air orchestral concerts, rock bands, and not forgetting the good old pantomine, there is the original 'clock cafe' which overlooks the sea selling a good selection of snacks and cakes etc, there is an abundance of little pathways which wind down to the beach, and lots of seating to enjoy the wonderful views of the sea and south bay. South cliff has lots to offer including two well known mini marts, hotel bars, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, night club etc, all located on the Ramshill shopping area, not forgetting the best pork pies in Scarborough to be had.

"lovely flat"

the flat itself could not have been better. clean, warm, everything that you could want and it is a real home from home. the only problem we encountered was the lack of hot water for a bath in the evening. no matter what we did to the boiler the water came out lukewarm. so boiling pans of water was not ideal. the flat is perfectly situated for all the shops and most importantly is only a 10 minute walk to the beach which abigail the dog greatly appreciated. now the not so good. the flat is on a major bus route so any ideas of a relaxing afternoon or lazy lie in are impossible with a bus or delivery van or lorry going past the window every minute or two. the biggest dissapointment however is the promise of a car parking space. it is only a potential space. in other words there are no dropped kerbs or road markings to suggest it is a driveway. we were blocked out several times and even blocked IN one day. we appreciate this is not the owners fault i feel the car space in the advert is a little misleading. we did have a great time in scarborough though and did enjoy our stay.

I am so glad that you enjoyed our lovely apartment and found it a 'home from home'. I did not get any complaint from you however for the lack of hot water and you are the first to complain about this in your review, if you had told us we could have come down and looked if the stat had been turned down on the boiler which maybe you could see yourself. About the blocking in of your car, we called the police and warden for you and expressed our concern and this does not happen very often (you contacted me just the once) and even with a 'dropped kerb' you will always get the odd inconsiderate drivers just parking where they choose. I have owned this property since 1989 and the parking spaces were always like that and have never felt the need to change it as I feel that would not deter the odd bad driver parking obstructively which is illegal. I am pleased you found our lovely town to your liking which is a busy all year round resort, and the apartment being in the heart of town will be a little noisier than say the quieter south cliff area, but most of my visitors have loved the fact it is so close to the shops & beach, which is why I get so many repeat bookings for this flat. "Excellently situated clean apartment, made exploring the area so easy"

This was our first stay in Scarborough and we chose the area because my partner is working in middlesbourgh and we wanted somewhere nice for a break that wasn't too far away. From the moment we looked at the property all communication with Sue was excellent, the apartment was clean and tidy and the perfect size for 2 of us and the dog, it had all the essentials and it a great location. Sue had very kindly left a lot of leaflets for local attractions and things to do which came in handy when planning our trip. Both the town centre and beach were within easy walking distance and there was an area of greenery opposite that was perfect for taking a stroll with the dog in the mornings and evenings. Overall we had a lovely trip that was made more enjoyable by the excellent accommodation. We would look forward to visiting again. Thanks Sue

"Well located, clean apartment 10 mins from the beach and 2 mins from the station"

This was our first trip as a family to Scarborough and we travelled with 2 adults, a 16 year old and a small dog. After many hours of looking at lettings online, this was the closest match to our requirements at the price (ie close to town and beach and dog-friendly). From the moment that we made the initial booking, we found that communication with Sue was excellent. She gave us information about the property by phone, email and post. We travelled by train, so the fact that the apartment was only a short walk from the station was a massive bonus. We were met at the apartment and shown around. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and facilities. The apartment included a lounge with TV (freeview digital), dining table and double sofa-bed (as used by the daughter). The carpet was of a robust type so we were confident that we could clean up any 'doggie accidents', though this was thankfully not an issue. The kitchen was clean and modern containing a halogen hob cooker, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, small table and chairs, kettle and a full range of crockery and pots and pans. It also had a door to a very secure back yard, ideal for the dog. The bedroom was once again very clean with a double bed, a single bed a wardrobe dresser and bedside tables. The bathroom had a bath with a shower attachment and toilet. You will need your own towels but we expected that anyway. The apartment was situated in a tidy, respectable neighbourhood. Local amenities included: Town centre and local shops including numerous chippies and fast food outlets (2mins). Station and bus stops (we used bus to Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay) (2 mins) Old town and South beach (5-10 mins) Castle and North beach (15 mins) There are numerous pubs and restaurants within walking distance. On the whole the Albermarle Apartment was a great base for exploring the area. Be aware if travelling as a group that the bed arrangements are 2 doubles and a single and the single is in the same room as one of the doubles.

"Lovely apartment with great location"

.Thank you sue and Dave for a great week away. The apartment is only a few 100 meters for the centre, but far enough away that there is no noise. It is great to have the car parking space and all the extras like the DVD and PlayStation which is a really nice touch. The only negative comment I would have is I am 6 5" and the bed is too small for me if it was a king-size it would have been perfect 5 star.

Thank you for your really positive comments, sorry about the bed not big enough as it is a good quality 4.6" double but have taken it on board for the future as we try our best to please, its a first for us having such a tall person come to stay, but so glad you enjoyed the apartment and hope to see you again in the future, regards Sue

"Wonderful location and Accomodation"

Another excellent stay as always we have been coming to this apartment for 6 years,the location is central to shops, buses, train station and 10 mins to beach. It as every thing you require and is kept in a high standard by the owner always clean and welcoming.This apartment is the place to stay for couples,families and older people as it is ground floor. We are looking forward again to our 2012 stays,there is also a bonus with having its own parking space, nothing is any trouble for Sue.
