About the home

Riverside location in 25 acres of private grounds of a watermill with 4km of river. Just south of the city of Tours, ideally situated for exploring the many chateaux of the Loire Valley, or if you prefer, take one of many wine tasting trails through Touraine. Alternatively, relax by the river and try some fishing for the many species that inhabit the Indre, or just sit and watch the abundance of wildlife including kingfisher, bee-eaters, heron and the beaver like coypu. The property has two floors both with living, dining and kitchen areas. There are two bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs. Both lounge areas have a double sofa bed.

Both properties have their own garden, outdoor furniture, sun loungers and barbecue. There is a shared swimming pool, erected in the summer months, 1.2m deep and 7m in diameter. There is also the possibility of sharing the use of the owners bicycles, canoes and small boat (subject to availability and competence).

The Loire Valley / Indre-et-Loire region

The Loire Valley is one of France's most impressive regions. The area is steeped in history and its rich heritage is obvious from the numerous famous Chateaux for which it is rightly famed. The Wine from this region is famous throughout the world and there are many caves you can visit and sample the variety before making your selection. More recently added to the tourist attraction of the area are a number of fine quality Golf courses.  You can enjoy a round of golf at the Golf de Touraine which is only 15 mins away by car.

The Tours / Monts area

Tours, a Gallo-Roman town, then the capital of the kingdom of France in the 15th and 16th centuries, reveals its extraordinary artistic and architectural heritage. The quaint Plumereau quarter with its cobbled roads, its old cafés and half-timbered houses. Wander through its streets by day or night and discover the town, its flower market, antique shops in the old town, flea markets, squares with their open-air entertainment and food markets.

Try the many wines in this region.  Azay-le-Rideau, Chinon, Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil invite you to discover their vineyards.

Come and stroll through the gardens of the Chateau Villandry or relive your childhood tales in the Sleeping Beauty château of Rigny-Ussé.  Admire the château of Azay-le-Rideau, set in the Indre.  Even more imposing, from the top of its rock spur, the château of Chinon, residence of the Plantagenets, which has been visited by so many illustrious characters.

If you love beautiful villages, you will be delighted by some villages ranked among the most beautiful in France. Candes-Saint-Martin, nestling at the confluence of the Vienne and the Loire, Crissay-sur-Manse, not forgetting Villaines-les-Rochers, renowned for its artisanal basketwork. Or according to La Fontaine 'the most beautiful village in the universe'  Richelieu

The Moulin Fresnaye is situated near Montbazon, Touraine in the Heart of France, 15 mins drive from the city of Tours. 3 1/2 hours drive from the ferry port of Caen, 20 mins drive from Tours Airport (Ryanair Stansted-Tours) and 1 hour from Paris by Train.
