My home is at the top of one of five beautiful hilltop Medieval villages called Tourrettes. The view is absolutely fantastic and the house itself is extremely light and airy. There is a small garden with a fish pond.
The small double guest bedroom is comfortable, and offers an en-suite shower room with small bath.
This is the ideal spot from which to explore the hinterland of the Cote d'Azur, with places such as Nice (50kms), Grasse (perfume centre of the World) (25kms) and Monte Carlo all but a simple drive away. However, if you want peace and quiet there is plenty of that too. For those who wish to walk and climb, France's most breathtaking Gorges du Verdon are also close by. In the winter, if you rise early enough there is skiing within 1 hour's drive away, snow allowing! Closer to me there is the internationally known gliding centre in Fayence, 10mns by car, the world famous Terre Blanch golf course, 15mns drive and a very large man-made lake (20mns) offering a variety of water sports and acitivies, plus several lovely and secluded beaches and restaurants around it's shores.
This area is also well known for it's wines, so for those who wish to do nothing other than have a gastronomic holiday, this is also the holiday spot for you. There are many vineyards close by all offering wine tasting and wine boutiques, several excellent restaurants, even a Michelin starred restaurant and many interesting shops. Each of the 5 villages has its own Saturday and weekday markets depending on the season. Tourrettes, where I live , has it's own Jazz festival in July/August and Seillans, a nearby village, has a summer classical music season.
There are daily and hourly buses to and from Nice airport, Cannes and Grasse.

About this location
The Provence region
Ideal base to explore some of France's most beautiful regions such as the famous Gorges du Verdon (Europe's Grand Canyon), the Alples de Haut Provence, the National Park of the Mercantour, the hinterland of Nice, the entire cote d'azur coast all the way into Italy with it's famous markets at Ventimiglia...all this well within a couple of hours drive.
In winter, the nearest skiing is approximately 1.1/2 hours drive away. Nearby skiing is available at about ¾'s to 1 hour drive and is suitable for beginners. There are many places to visit in winter as well as summer or you could even come for several weeks to start writing that book which you have been wanting to do for so many years!
The immediate area is very pretty with Tourrettes being one of 5 medieval hilltop villages, each of which all have their local mid-week and Saturday markets offering fresh farm produce, clothing and lovely leather goods. There are excellent restaurants, one of which has a Michelin star. The aera also has an internationally reknowned golf course, Terre Blanche, which offers a fantastic spa and restaurant; there are 2 other good golf courses in the area; there is also the international gliding centre which offers flying lessons and has a very good restaurant as well.
There are many local walks and many very good vineyards all with small boutiques and of course wine tasting.
In the Summer we have a classical music season which is known throughout Europe as it boasts some very well known musicians who come here for a little relaxation at the same time as playing to a very appreciative audience!
There is something for everybody...why don't you come and see for yourselves, not only in Summer but also throughout the year
