The Pyrenean National Park protects more than 46,000 hectares of land on the French side making it a fantastic unspoilt area to walk in. A rich assortment of flora can be discovered including over 400 different species such as the Pyrenean Violet or the Pyrenean Lily.

If you look upwards you might catch a glimpse of the Bearded Vulture or a Royal Eagle, whereas on the ground Marmots and Isards roam free - as does the odd bear!

There are numerous walks to discover in all of the valleys in this part of the Pyrenees. The Ossau Valley, Aspe Valley and Cauterets Valley are but a few.

There are several caves to visit locally, along with the Chateau de Mauvezan, abbeys and churches.

Locally, there area myriad of small towns, which offer markets, restaurants, street cafes, wine "caves" and music festivals (notably the 10day long international " Jazz in Marciac" in August). The annual national equine festival takes place at Tarbes.
