The Wallonia region

Hainaut is rich in patrimonial old towns not far at all from the gite : museums, historical sites, will certainly help you to discover and understand our region. Don't go away without visiting Mons, Binche, Tournai, Nivelles. Hainaut was also a province of industries, particularly coalmines, textile and iron industries. Museums are dedicated to the memory of that labourfull province.

Nice and interesting family entertainment places exist too : Le Pass in Frameries, Pairy Daiza in Brugelette, Bois-du-Luc and Bois-du-Casier, ecomuseums of the mines near La Louvière. The gites are particularly well situated between two natural parks : Sambre-Avesnois and Hauts Pays, which offer plenty of nice walkings and romantic landscapes.

By train, you 'll for a trip to Bruges (2 hours), Brussels (1 hour), Paris (2 hours), directly from the station.

Particularly well situated for long walkings through the woods or the country, it 's also quite near very good and cheap restaurants and shops.

Tournai is an old historical town, which is the worth ward to be visited. As you go to Tournai, you won't forget to visit next to Le Mont Saint Aubert, Lessines and Flobecq.

Review 1-10 of 10

24 Aug 2014

We stayed in L'Ermitage for a week from 16-23 August 2014. 6 adults and 3
children ranging in ages from 3 to 7. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and
even though it was the coldest August in 50 years this did not affect our
enjoyment too much as there was so much to see and do. Renee and Andre were
very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us comfortable.
The kids loved the daily feeding of the ducks, chickens and sheep. We bought
bread from the local bakery and milk from the local farmer and meat for
barbeques from the local butcher. Mons is an absolute gem and definitely worth
a visit. Anyone looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of the
city should come here to relax. We sampled all the local beers and tried a few different ones each day. Would highly recommend this break as it is only 2 hours drive from Calais.

"Het was goed toeven met de kinderen. Ook fijn dat Renee Nederlands spreekt."

Goed verzorgd huisje.

Many thanks, Andy and all of you. Hoping to see you once more another year!
