Large guest house in an exceptional setting
Ever been tempted to get away from the stress and hustle and bustle of the city? Fancy a trip to the heart of the countryside, with time to look around you and enjoy the calm and simplicity of a different style of life?
Imagine a large country house and its attendant guest house set in seven acres of garden with a view across the Ariège Valley to the Pyrénées beyond. Welcome to Quintalone.
Qunitalone, a property in the Lauragais hills, 35 km south of Toulouse,is a haven of peace and quiet, just 5 minutes from Auterive village with its local produce market, cinema, riverside café and open-air dancing, and the usual range of services and shops.
Entirely independent of the country house itself, which is the residence of the owners, I and D, who are on hand to attend to all your needs with both discernment and discretion, the guest house contains 230m2 of carefully planned and renovated space, with accommodation for 8. Two parking spaces, one a garage, are reserved for your convenience.
It has 3 large bedrooms with en suite bathroom facilities. The 56m2 main bedroom, located upstairs, has a 160X200 double bed, a small reading room, and an en suite bathroom with bath, double washbasin and wc. Ceiling beams divide the living space naturally into waking and sleeping quarters, with light filtering through numerous windows to create an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy.
The other upstairs bedroom contains 4 single beds, ideal for children. Between the 2 bedrooms there is a self-contained bathroom with shower, double washbasin and wc.
A third bedroom is situated on the ground floor. It has a 160X200 double bed and en suite bathroom with bath, double wc and laundry space.
The wc is separate. This is a sunlit room overlooking the gardens and swimming pool.
The kitchen/dining room is spacious and convivial with a central workspace and table for 10. The corner fireplace will be especially appreciated in winter, and the kitchen also has access to a sheltered patio, sunlit terrace and the gardens. The gardens contain lots of things for children to do.
The adjoining living-room, with its comfortable chairs and cosy, colourful cushions, is equipped with a flat screen TV, DVD player, hifi system and wi-fi connection. On the walls are a selection of sketches from the owner's erstwhile art gallery in Toulouse, whereas other rooms contain paintings and sculptures that create an original decorative style. All exhibited pieces are on sale.
Having most probably spent a busy day discovering this remarkable region, you will finally be able to relax in and around the swimming pool with its magnificent view over the valley and distant mountains. The pool is protected from the garden by a door, fencing around the pool itself and an alarm indicating any immersion. While the adults are drinking their apéritifs, children will find plenty of attractions in the gardens: swings, open air games... This is Quintalone !

The Midi-Pyrénées region
Haute-garonne is a department in the southwest of France named after the Garonne river. Its main city is Toulouse.
Haute-Garonne is part of the current region of Midi-Pyrénées and is surrounded by the departments of Hautes-Pyrénées, Gers, Tarn-et-Garonne, Tarn, Aude, and Ariège. It also borders Spain in the south (province of Lleida and province of Huesca).
The department is crossed by the upper course of the Garonne River (hence the name) for nearly 200 kilometers (120 mi). The borders of the department follow the river. The Garonne enters France from Spain at the town of Fos, goes through Toulouse and leaves the department The extreme south of the department lies in the Pyrenees mountain range and is very mountainous. The highest elevation is the Peak of Perdiguère, at 3,222 metres (10,571 ft) above sea level.
The inhabitants of the department are called Haut-Garonnais. The greatest population concentration is around Toulouse. The south of the department is quite sparsely populated. More than a million people inhabited the department at the last census in 1999. Young people are well represented with 55% of the population under the age of 40 and of those, 16% are between the ages of 20 and 29. This is because Toulouse is a university town.
Located on the top on the hillside, this is the old farmhouse adjacent to a mansion of the 18th century, built on a Gallo-Roman site overlooking the valley of the Ariege facing the Pyrenees.
its secluded location offers peace and quiet, while still close to the village. The cottage is situated 35km south of Toulouse,
Covering an area of 230 m2, the farm has recently benefited from a quality restored combines contemporary comfort and authenticity. Every detail has been carefully considered to provide maximum space and comfort to its guests.
Your first contact with Quintalone will discover the view from the road enjoyed this place.
The guest house has a separate entrance in an enclosed garden of 600m2 overlooking the surrounding countryside.

"A perfect little piece of paradise"
From the moment you arrive at Quintalone, you can't help but relax. The house is very stylishly decorated, comfortable, spacious, and cool on hot days. We travelled with our 19 month old daughter and she loved the swings, play house and toys in the house and garden. The hosts who live beside the property are extremely helpful and provide details of local places to eat and visit. We loved the rural location of this property (you need a car!) but equally visited local towns during our stay. Would highly recommend this spot as somewhere to truly get away from it all.

"Amazing holiday - amazing house"
This was an amazing house - we didn't want to leave. It has everything you could need and has been finished very well.
It is quiet but only a short drive to nearest town (that has a great local market). The pool is perfect and the views from the sunloungers are breathtaking.
Would thoroughly recommend it. We were a group of three couples and its size perfectly accommodated us but it would also work very well for families.
The owner and her husband were lovely and on hand to help/answer questions.
