The Lombardy / Lake Garda Area
Lake Garda has a unique micro-climate, mild in the winter and hot and sunny in the summer, yet with a cool breeze coming off the lake.
Lake Garda is also Italy's largest lake, and the undoubted star of the Italian Lake district.
Lake Garda really has something for everyone. From sun to shopping, beautiful mountain scenery to the sun glittering off the clear, warm water, from skiing in winter to wakeboarding, kite-surfing, windsurfing and rock-climbing in summer; from opera and theatre to children's adventure parks Gardaland and Canevaworld... when you come to Lake Garda you can be sure of a holiday you will never forget.
Served by three airports (Verona Brescia, Verona and Bergamo) and backed up by the airports at Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa and Venice Marco Polo and Treviso airports, daily low cost flights can be found from every part of the UK. Ryanair also offers day trips to Rome, with a flight leaving daily at 8.30 am and returning in time for supper, meaning when you stay on Lake Garda a day trip to Milan, Venice, Verona or even Rome is an easily achieved reality. Why not visit the opera? The Arena di Verona is a short drive away and the historic open air amphitheatre offers an unforgettable experience.
If you feel like sticking closer to the home base, why not hop on a ferry and explore the lakeside towns of Lake Garda?
Watersports on Lake Garda are always popular, with the pretty lakeside towns offering sailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, jet-skiing, kite-surfing, and scuba diving facilities.
If you visit between the months of November and April, day skiing trips are perfectly feasible: the nearest slopes are 40 minutes drive away and the world-class ski resort Madonna di Campiglio 1 hr 45 minutes drive.
In summer, hiking, mountain-biking, horse-riding and rock climbing is popular. There are dozens of walking trails in the mountains around the lake, mountain bikes can be hired and there are countless riding centres and tennis clubs.
The designer shops and boutiques, street cafes and bars, restaurants and trattorias offering home-cooked Italian dishes and the finest local wines at incredibly good value will appeal to everyone, especially in sophisticated towns such as Toscolano Maderno, Moniga del Garda, Desenzano del Garda, Gardone Riviera and Salo'.
If the kids get bored playing in the swimming pool, why not spend a few days exploring the theme parks at the southern end of Lake Garda? There are many huge them parks, including Gardaland, Caneva World, Aqua Parks and Safari Parks - you'd need a couple of weeks to get through them all!
Don't forget to relax, though, and drink in the unbelievable lake views with a glass of wine.
Toscolano Maderno area
Besides the two towns of Toscolano and Maderno, which sit on the alluvial fan of the Toscolano River, the community is made up of several picturesque villages: Maclino, Vigole, Sanico, Gaino, Cecina, Roina, Cabiana, Folino and Bezzuglio. The territory is dominated by peaks of Mount Pizzocolo (1582 m) and Mount Castell di Gaino (866 m): both afford breathtaking views. The particularly mild climate, even in winter, makes this a marvelous vacation spot. Along the shore there are many camping sites and hotels to suit any need, and delicious local dishes are served in the characteristic restaurants and bars. Due to the extensive network of roads and trails, walks or excursions on horseback or with a mountain bike are possible in the vast hinterland.
Oriolo is a short drive (around 3 km to the lakeside town of Toscolano Maderno).

Further details indoors: Very modern, stylish home with a sophisticated "designer" feel, expensive quality furnishings. The apartment has huge glass sliding doors that open out onto a large terrace with built in barbecue and stunning, open view of Lake Garda.
The living area is incredibly light thanks to the sliding glass doors that occupy the entire lake-facing wall. The totally open views of the waters of Lake Garda make sitting in this room feel like you are floating above the lake ! These doors open out onto the terrace.
The living room has two sofas, a leather chair, dining table and a modern Italian designed kitchen in white glass.
There are two double bedrooms: one has a stunning lake view and access to a private balcony, the other has a large picture window with countryside views.
There is one bathroom with jacuzzi bath and two washbasins, plus wc and bidet, and an additional shower room with wc and bidet.
Further details outdoors: The apartment has a private terrace with built in barbecue and plenty of room for dining and sunbathing in private, and an additional balcony off one of the bedrooms. There is also a private patch of garden to the rear of the property.
Behind the residence is a large swimming pool with the same breathtaking views of Lake Garda, with shower and sunbathing area.
There is also secure covered parking for your car.
Further details
Due to the expensive designer furnishings (some of glass for example) we would prefer to let to families with children aged 10 or over, with the exception of a very small baby (not walking). The property is ideal for two couples travelling together because of the two double beds and two bathrooms.
