The Costa del Sol region
The Costa Del Sol region has long been a popular destination for over 30 years, with over 300 days of sunshine every year. With excellent road and rail systems travelling is very easy. You can enjoy the history and culture of cities such as Malaga or the beautiful golden beaches along the coast. There are also walking the mountains of the area or touring on the back roads of Andalucia.
The famous Nerja caves are a must see and during the summer months the area is alive to the sound of the flamenco and the many fiestas.
The Torrox/Nerja area lays claim to having he best climate in Europe, sheltered as it is by the Sierra Tejeda and Sierra Almijara mountains.
We recommend a morning or afternoon spent exploring the village of Torrox Pueblo with its 16th century churches - Inglesia de la Encarnacion is built on the site of the original village mosque.
The village plays host to a number of lively festivities throughout the year - there is always something to celebrate in Spain and long may it continue !
Most of Torrox's shops, bars and restaurants are to be found along the Paseo Maritimo a flat pedestrianised promenade starting at tge El Faro or lighthouse the promenade runs west along the entire length of the main beach.
Torrox Costa is a beach resourt but a stroll along the promenade with give you the opportunity to see some of the important roman remains fir discovered in the 70's.
Most of the activities are centred on the beach with pedaloes, kayaks and jet skis all available for hire during the
summer months . A Golf Course is a short drive away.
There is a street market every Monday.
There are regular buses or taxis into nearby Nerja.
