Home description

The Chaffinch is a modern, studio-cottage that provides accommodation for groups of up to 2 people; an idyllic haven for couples looking to enjoy some relaxing time together. All the accommodation is laid out over one level and the living space has been designed on an open-plan style.

There is a small garden at the rear, from which you can enjoy a glass of wine on a summer’s evening or, alternatively, you can stroll around owner’s garden, which also has its own woodland and a coarse-fishing lake, which visitors can use. There is off-road parking for up to 2 cars, but the local amenities are approximately 5 minutes away on foot.

The West Country / Devon region

Devon, with its quiet country lanes and patchwork of lush green fields, sleepy villages is not to be missed. Surf its north coast beaches, explore the rugged charms of Dartmoor’s peaks, cycle the Tarka Trail or explore Rosemoor’s fabulous RHS garden. Stately home lovers will be spoiled with Cotehele, Castle Drogo and St Anthony House nearby, and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?


Torrington / Stibb Cross area

With the Tarka Trail a mere 2 miles away, it is well placed for walks in spectacular scenery. The village is an idyllic retreat for anyone looking to get away from it all. Just nine miles away, you will find Bideford - a pastel-coloured market town that is situated close to the banks of the River Torridge. Bideford Long Bridge crosses the Torridge, using 24 spans to do so. It has been in use since medieval times and some of the original materials used in its construction are still visible.

Nearby attractions include the Big Sheep at nearby Abbotsham, and the Milky Way near to Clovelly, where you can enjoy sheep racing and duck trailing and there is an indoor adventure playground for children. Further along the coast is Hartland Point, where the Atlantic waves often burst in spectacular displays, pushed by winter storms. On a clear Day Lundy Island can easily be seen in the distance.

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the 'Winter' period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.

Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the 'Low' and 'Mid' periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.

'Last Minute Breaks' (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the 'Low', 'Mid', 'HIGH', 'PEAK', 'XMAS' and 'NEW YEAR' periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
