The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The southern tip of Costa Blanca and the Costa Calida offer miles of unspoilt coastline, an average of 315 days sunshine per year, and an average annual temperature of 21 degrees. The region boasts some of the oldest and most historic towns and cities in Spain , including the ancient port of Cartagena, and the areas main city, Murcia.
It is not only an area of great local history and tradition, but also offers every modern facility for a comfortable, varied lifestyle. The world-renowned La Manga Resort offers a wealth of top-class sports and leisure facilities.
The region has the added attraction of "two seas" on one coastline:- The Mediterranean Sea on one side, with its endless sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, picturesque fishing ports and secluded coves; and the Mar Menor, originally an open bay, but now a large coastal lagoon of warm seawater.
The region is a contrast of desert and sea, arid land and orchards, coves with fine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters hidden among the beautifully contrasting steep coastal mountains. It is renowned for it's spring temperatures throughout winter and even dry climate.
Torrevieja area / Las Ramblas Golf area
An area full of history, traditions and an unspoiled nature, you can travel through Murcia, and take the opportunity to visit the high plateau, the "north-west lands" or the coves and beaches of its coastline, much of which is still unspoiled.
On the high plateau, you can experience desert, with the sweet aroma of thyme and rosemary. Yecla and Jumilla wait with their wines, their plains and crags riddled with archaeological sites. Monte Arabí and its cave paintings, vineyards and olive groves' borders on solitary lands, forming extraordinary landscapes with the green and ochre, yellow and red of the fruit trees. Here and there you will find a castle or an isolated monastery where you will be immersed in culture expanding over a period of three thousand years.
For nature lovers, it is well worth a trip into the humble mountains of the high plateau. Teja, Salinas and the El Carche sierra are covered in pine trees, oaks, rosemary, lavender, junipers... and have breathtaking sights from one of the large parallel crests, from which you can see, in the distance, the "north-west lands"
Enchanted land of conquerors. Forests with lush vegetation are protected by crystalline mountains, which shelter rare and exquisite fauna.
Areas that whisk you away from the noise, hustle and bustle and stresses of everyday life. You can visit the old city of Moratalla or the fantastic mountain scenery nearby, with the highest peaks in the region, including the Pico de Revolcadores, at 2,084 metres, and the El Cenajo reservoir. Other places, other discoveries: Cehegín, Bullas, Calasparra... Further on, Abanilla -they used to come here from Damascus to buy dates- and Fortuna, with its Roman spas, palm trees and light.
The holy town of Caravaca, with its Vera Cruz Sanctuary enshrined in an ancient Arab fortress, with the Caballos del Vino (wine horses) festivities in May. If traditional ceremonies interest you, the processions during the Holy Week in Lorca, Murcia or Cartagena are not to be missed.
