The property is built in traditional Spanish pepita style . Downstairs is an open plan living area and compact American style kitchen. To the rear is a toilet/shower room and a bedroom. The downstairs is bathed in light fom the large arched windows in front. Upstairs is accessed from an internal tiled staircase , leading to a balcony with views of the Salt Lake and conservation area. There are two bedrooms upstairs , plus a bathroom/toilet . A BarBQ is also kept upstairs for use on the balcony to enjoy the warm Spanish evenings.

The Costa Blanca/Valencia region

Torrevieja is on the Orihuela coast and is famous for its beautiful harbour and its two salt lakes . The whole coastline is easily explored via the N332 coast road.

La Siesta is a quiet residential area populated by all European nationalities including many local Spanish. Its wide streets are tree lined and pleasant.

The Torrevieja area has its own micro climate that is regarded as one of the healthiest in the world. It is reknowned for great summer weather and the beautiful warm Meditterranean Sea. It is ideal for people suffering from arthiritis .

La Siesta is a quiet residential area populated by all European nationalities including many local Spanish. Its wide streets are tree lined and pleasant. There is a local doctors surgery, St.Jaime hospital is 5 mins away . There are local shops / bar/ restaurants a short walk away.

Casa Ventura , 5 min drive , has pool , bar and restaurant for small daily/weekly fee. Flamingo Park is a small waterpark ideal for smaller children and is nearby. Larger waterpark is 5 mins drive in Torrevieja.

"Super Base for Beaches"

I spent 2 weeks in the villa with my teenage son in July. Booking this villa was straightforward and we had excellent directions to it from the the airport supplied by the owner. We were met by the local agent Liz who was great and lived across from the property. My fault but I booked this villa by not reading all the detail and both my son and I were disappointed when we found out that there was no swimming pool at the Villa - Liz was very kind and supplied us tickets that gave us access to a pool not far from the property but we only used it once as there was strict control on what you could do in it - pretty much nothing but swim and wallow! I looked at the villa availability and the pictures....we were looking forward to the large pool in the picture surrounded by trees! But as I said my fault for not reading the details carefully. I would say a car is essential as the nearest supermarkets are a good 40 minute walk (not ideal in the heat!). Local facilities are pretty limited ....a 15 minute walk gets you to a couple of bars but nowhere close where you could stock up with breakfast things/bread - no baker close by the villa and we bought all our daily needs at one of the supermarkets - Carfour we liked best, it is massive and had the widest choice of everything. And as mentioned by others there is a Chinese restaurant close to the couple of bars. A 30+ minute walk (depending on how fast you walk!) will take you to other bars and a couple of restaurants (there is an Irish Bar if this is your thing) and next to it another bar called Concerita where we found the lady behind the bar to be particularly miserable - she only got our business once(!) . The walk at night is not bad and more pleasant than trying to do it in the daytime. The villa itself was clean and we felt large enough for a family of up to 6. The beds were adequate but the mattresses too spongy for my liking (personal taste). There were only 2 of us and we only used the upstairs rooms (because it had air con) so plenty large for us. It is well equipped and plenty of plates, cutlery etc. You get UK mainstream channels (BBC, ITV, Ch 5, 4 etc) but can get no programme information or subtitles (flat screen and echo in room made it difficult to follow a lot of the conversation particulaly the favoured low voices by many programme makers!). Property has a DVD player and there was a selection of DVD's avaialble but a large number were copies and not good quality. Upstairs there is a small balcony (with BBQ) but fitting more than 3 round the table would be a challenge - there is no dining room .....its a kitchen diner but the table is tucked away behind a wall in the "lounge" where there is a small area where you can eat but the table is small for anything more than 2 to 3 people and plates etc on the table. There is another folding table but we didn't use it so don't know if it would be a hassle putting it next to the small dining table and I confess I did not not look if there were more than 4 chairs to match those available - there are some outdoor chairs but may not be adequate to use as dining chairs - something for larger families/groups to look at and comment on. There is a seating space outside the entrance of the property where you can move your tables and chairs and soak up some UV (only certain times of the day) but we didn't use it. Blue Flag Beaches in the area are great but you need a car or use public transport (we had a car so don't know how effective, good or easy to use public transport is). As has been mentioned by another reviewer it would have been really nice to have had internet access in the villa - we managed to use free wi-fi in one of the bars but it was flakey and not very good. Also the house is fully tiled but it has a couple of rugs which would have benefited from vacuuming but we could not find a vacuum cleaner in the property. Another minor irritation for me was there was no hand dustpan and brush to sweep up small areas of the floor .... the long handle pan and brush provided was a pain to use in small areas and not very good when we were trying to clear out an infestation of ants (common problem in Spain - so much so that we had gone prepared with our own ant killer!) The infestation was brought under control quickly and Liz helped by unscrewing the vent they were coming from and zapping them there! Not withstanding the ants we had a great time at the villa with the only disappointing thing being the lack of pool attached to the property (my fault for not reading the description!). It would have been very miserable if we did not have the car and were not able to reach the supermarket, beaches and the town easily. The air con (main room downstairs and bedroom upstairs) was a god send as without this I think in the heat we had the villa would have been unbearable. Downstairs bedroom has a ceiling fan but as we didn't use this room can't say how comfortable or not it would have been in the heat we had for the 2 week. The 2 fridge Freezers (one upright and one under counter - both with small freezer boxes) were very useful and both worked well. I would recommend this villa but those with big families should note the likely squeeze on the balcony upstairs if you intend to spend a lot of time there. If you are looking for a quiet base with lovely beaches about 20 mins to 1/2 an hour drive and don't mind the limited choice of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the property this is a lovely villa - might be a challenge to keep little ones occupied but the small water park within walking distances could be a saving grace (I think it was 12 Euros pp for the day). Car, as mentioned, highly recommended if not essential and plenty of parking beside the villa.

We believe that our townhouse offers excellent value for money in a beautiful part of Spain. As the reviewer points out our keyholder is most helpful and will gladly deal with any problems that may arise .The pictures and descriptions on our photo gallery are precise and up to date. The most local bars/restaurants/ shops can be found at Washington Square(keyholder will give directions)and are a 5-10 minute walk depending on your fitness level ( a 2 minute drive). Here you can get fresh bread/rolls/fruit&veg/meat and most supplies every day.

"Fabulous"

We booked this property as it is very close to friends that were on holiday there, and we would highly recommend it. The house was very clean and the keyholder lives close by so is available should there be any problems. The house is in a great location, within walking distance of local bars and restaurants on the urbanisation. The master bedroom upstairs is lovely and the balcony is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink watching the sun set over the lake. Fantastic value also. Do not hesitate if you are looking to rent a property in this area.

"Home from Home"

We booked this property because it was in the area our friends have a house in and we already know the area quite well,we were very happy with it. It was clean, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The keyholder was very helpful, explained everything as she showed us round the house, she only lived a few doors away and she recommended a visit to Guardamar, which was lovely. The house had everything thing we needed, plenty of blankets as it did still get a bit chilly in the evening. It was nice sitting on the balcony in the afternoon, when the sun was out (a great suntrap) with a nice view of the lake. We went to a couple of bars close by, enjoyed the quiz night at the Black Bull, my daughter won a lucky cards round! Also frequented the Chinese restaurant about a 15 minute walk away, very good value. We have recommended the house to our friends and hopefully we would be able to return.

"Nice pleasant but cold place in the wintertime."

We were well recepted and installed and the location was very nice. Inside house was very neat, but not enough heating, kitchen tools, instructions for the AC, lighting outside and in the kitchen. There were no sun on the porch until 16:00 hours. If there are carpets, you must have a vaccumcleaner and thermometers inside and outside. It would have been convenient with beverages and some can-food to use the first day/night, if you are coming late on the first day. Also it should have been heated when we arrived, because it´s wintertime. Wifi and TV-range was poor. Nice with restaurants and super-market nearby.

With regard to the heating - the Keyholder will show people how to use the heating/air conditioner in future. In Winter the house will be heated before arrival. There are plenty of kitchen utensils in the kitchen cupboards/central island. If anything further is required we will be happy to purchase it. There is only one rug in the lounge and the Keyholder will clean it before arrival/on departure. A Welcome Pack was offered but not accepted. Our advert specified that there was no Wifi but we may put it in in future. We think our house offers very good value for money in a great holiday location.
