The Costa Blanca/Valencia region

The climate is strikingly diverse for such a reduced area. Three major areas can be cited and most of the province belongs to a Semiarid climate. It roughly goes along the coastal plain from Villajoyosa through the southern most border (cities included here are, amongst others, Alicante, Elche, Orihuela and Torrevieja). Summers are very long, hot to very hot and very dry, winters are cool to mild and its most prominent feature is very scarce precipitation, typically below 300mm. per year and most likely to happen during spring and autumn. The reasons for this lack of precipitation is mostly the marked Rain shadow effect caused by hills to the west of the Alicante province.

There are remarkable saline wetlands and marshlands along the coast such El Fondó and the former wetlands and now salt evaporation ponds in Santa Pola and Torrevieja. All of them are key Ramsar Sites which make the Alicante province of high relevance for both migratory and resident seabirds and waterbirds. Important coastal dunes are present in the Guardamar areas which were planted with thousands of pine trees during the 19th century in order to protect the Ville from the dunes advancing, which has created now an area of remarkable ecologic value.

Torrevieja Area

The resort is easily reached from both Alicante and Murcia airports, approximately 50 and 20 minutes drive away respectively. Situated close to some of the finest Blue Flag beaches on the Costa Blanca and only minutes away from all possible amenities including shopping centres, several prestigious golf courses, bars and restaurants.

A bus service within two minutes of the Property allows easy and economical journeys into Torrevieja. There is a taxi rank or carhire facilities if required.

Torrevieja has, in recent years, grown to be one of the most popular and important centres on the Mediterranean sea for residential tourism. Torrevieja's seafront offers a lot of restaurants, markets, tapas bars and street cafes on the very wide promenade which is popular for evening strolls.

Enjoy Torrevieja's magnificent Friday market which sells everything from fruit and vegetables to housing accessories and gifts. There is an indoor market in the town centre open daily for fish, vegetables and meat. Fresh seafood and fish can be bought daily at the port of Torrevieja. A new Habernas shopping centre houses many international retailers including H&M, C&A, Zara and Puma.

Each month Torrevieja celebrates a different Festival, or 'Fiesta' with a riot of colour, tradition, music and dance, including la Habanera, a special rejoicing of Torrevieja's sailing history and early salt trade days with Cuba.
