Torrevieja area / Punta Prima, Torrevieja area
Torrevieja is located on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante in South East Spain. It lies about 30 miles away south of the city of Alicante and was originally a salt mining and fishing village as it is located between the sea and the two large salt lakes which give the area a healthy micro climate.
Torrevieja is a working town, producing salt, and has its own harbour and small fishing fleet. There is a wonderful indoor market which offers a tremendous selection of fish, fruit, meat and vegetables throughout the year. There are beautiful fountains, plazas, historic churches and promenades to provide a cultural interest. A causeway between the sea and the harbour has proved immensely popular with residents and visitors alike providing a scenic stroll, with an uninterrupted view of the sea. Disabled visitors have also been well catered for with specially constructed ramps and platforms.
Punta Prima is just south of Torrevieja; the resort has two beautiful beaches which are only minutes from the apartment. The main beach is a just a short stroll away, with a more secluded beach adjacent to the Nautilus bar, there is a further beach, in sand dunes, a short walk towards Torrevieja which is surrounded by Palm Trees. The Costa Blanca is so called because of its remarkably luminous skies and the long, white sandy beaches which extend over most of its coastline. It is also reputed to enjoy the healthiest climate in Europe with lots of sunshine, mild temperatures and low humidity. The Costa Blanca of Spain offers one of the best and most extensive ranges of tourist amenities, the quality of its services, its excellent climate and its cultural richness are second to none.
