Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Casa Antonio is a beautiful secluded villa in the heart of the Italian countryside in Pietranico. The living areas are split over two floors and it's a holiday home that feels just like that-a home! The well-equipped villa comfortably sleeps 8 people in 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin room, and there's a double sofa bed in the 4th room which is an upstairs living area. All the bedrooms (including the sofa bed) are upstairs. I do also have a very strong camp bed (single) which would suit a child making that a total of 9 guest. All bedrooms are big enough to add the camp bed too. Your own private swimming pool is completely gated in so it's ideal for familes. You can enjoy the stunning panaramic views from your balconies, yet you're only a 5 minute drive away to all the local amenities in the busy historic town of Torre De Passeri.
Here you'll find bars, restaurants, 2 super markets and other shopping. You can also enjoy the local street market every Saturday morning. Extensive sandy beaches are 35 min drive away in and around Pescara. At the coast you can find many shops, restaurants or just lounge on the beaches. For those that prefer a more active holiday, the nearby mountains provide many hiking trails, touring and picnicking opportunities. In addition, there are many Roman ruins, medieval castles, churches and other historical sites and 2 national parks all within the Abruzzo region.
Casa Antonio is very easily reached and superbly positioned for peace and quiet and provides a tranquil escape from the busy modern day life. It's easily accessible by car or train from either Rome or Pescara, each in turn served by a wide choice of low-cost and regular airlines.
I will provide all bedding & indoor towels but ask that you kindly bring your own pool/beach towels. They can be rented for a small fee of e5. This is a washing fee. There's a selection of DVD films for both young and old, various books & toys (Boys toys mostly!) To keep you occupied as well as some games. Also a toddler push chair.

The Marche/Abruzzo region
Abruzzo is located in central Italy and stretches from the heart of the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea, on a mostly mountainous and wild terrain. The natural landscape of the high and steep peaks of the Gran Sasso, Laga Mountains, and Mount Majella slopes down to a wide range of hills, until it finally reaches the Adriatic coast. The Adriatic Abruzzese coastline is a gorgeous mix of rocky coves and cliffs and miles of blissful sandy accessible beaches, with many awarded the european clean water Blue Flag.
Abruzzo has something for everyone - Numerous marked walking paths for all level of walker from gentle strolls between villages to ambitious hikes into the highest and wildest stretches of the Gran Sasso, by bicycle, or on horseback. You can also descover remote mediaeval villages, as well as the monasteries and castles of the region.
Abruzzo is also conveniently close to many of Italy's biggest urban centres (Rome and Naples are both within easy reach),
Pescara (which is the closest city) is a short 35km drive. From the mountains to the coastline, the whole province offers artistic treasures as well as sites for wellness and relaxation in close contact with nature. There's plenty of fabulous resrtaurants and a busy nightlife for those looking to dance the night away! Sun, sea, sports and fun are the keywords of the Province of Pescara, where wellness is the idea. In fact, the territory offers a mix of nature, suggestive landscapes and sport: an experience for the whole family. In the winter months you are only a 40 minute drive away to the nearest ski resort. There's a few to choose from.
Torre dei Passeri
In Torre De Passeri you'll find a wide variety of shops and bars. There's 2 good size supermarkets, chemist, gift shops, clothes shops as well as a mix of restaurants.
Pietranico is an old agricultural town. Located on a hill near the Rota River, the town overlooks the Pescara Valley and the views are truely spectacular. Its population is about 700 inhabitants. Pietranico offers friendly shops and bars which are frequented by very hospitable locals. The old center of the town is pretty much as it was, much of it dating back to the 15th century. The houses run up along the steep hillside giving a real 'Old Italy' feel to it as it's divided by narrow winding streets.
The most important point of interest in Pietranico is the Oratory of the Madonna della Croce. Built in the year 1618, on the site of a miraculous apparition of the Virgin Mary, the exterior of the church is simple, in contrast to the interior, which is rather sumptuous. The most important festas in the town are on the 2nd and 3rd of May and the 14th and 15th of September, and both are dedicated to the Madonna delle Croce.
