The Sardinia region
If you are thinking for a different way of travelling you must vist our beautiful island: SARDINIA
The second largest island in the middle of the mediterranean sea, Sardinia is a wild land where you can find the most beautiful sea and beaches. The island is rich in archeological sities (Barumini, Tharros, Antas, S.Cristina, Nora) from different cultures (Nuragic, Phoenicians, Roman, Arabic, Spanish).
If you came to visit our island remember to try the sardinan traditional cooking, wines and spirits. During the year there are many traditional events: Sant' Efisio Festival in Cagliari, the Candelieri in Sassari, la Sartiglia in Oristano, the sagra del Redentore in Nuoro, the "Ardia" in Sedilo, etc.
The Torre dei Corsari area
Torre dei corsari is situated in one of the wildest and most amazing place in western Sardina, between the promontory of Capo pecora and to the north by basalt plateau of Capo Frasca. The coast stretches for about 50 km, alternating golden beaches and rocky areas.
The most impostant beach in Torre dei corsari is a long beach with spendid dunes rich in sand and bush vegetation with some fine example of cade juniper.
Near our houses you can find also a little beach called "is cannisons" , a mixed of stone and sand.
Going north you can find many other beautiful beaches like Scivu, Portu Maga, Funtanazza, Piscinas (Its dune-system is considered one of most extensive in Europe and has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO).
In the area you can find the interesting old mines of Ingurtosu and Montevecchio, the complex of these old buildings form a unique, fascinating historical and cultural heritage.
To the rear of the coast we find the Linas and monte Arcuentu massif, in the area there are wild boars, foxes and sardinian deers and many kinds of predatoy birds. It is interesting to visit "la Giara" where is possible to see the little wild horses.
In the area of Torre dei corsari is a good area for fishing, biking and diving.

The Is Cannisonis holiday houses are great for couples (if a bit expensive when only shared by two), but certainly NOT for 5 people, as they claim. There are only two confortable sleeping places: the double bed in the reasonably sized bedroom. The other three sleeping places are rather unconfortable, namely bunk beds in a very small and basic room (probably a former storage room) and a single bed in the kitchen/living room. I'm afraid we found the two ladies who greeted us and who regularly came to clean not quite friendly (in fact I would say bordering on rude). They were also not very helpful when we told them that the lawn sprinklers that come on at night are very noisy (it woke us up several nights) and whether they could perhaps be programmed to function during the day, or at least not between typical sleeping hours. "No, we cannot do that, besides, we haven't received this complaint from anyone else but your group" was their response - which I found a bit silly. The facilities/utensils provided in the bathroom/kitchen were enough, if perhaps a bit lacking. Having said all that, the sea views from the veranda were nice and open, which made for memorable breakfasts and dinner at the outside table. This is what counted for us the most, despite being a bit crammed and awaken at night by loud sprinklers. The little beach just 2 min walking from the house was an absolute jewel, not crowded and with calm, clean waters. I would recommend this holiday home, although personally if I were to come back to Sardinia I'd probably stay someplace else. |

We had a fabulous week here. The apartment was clean, tidy and well laid out with lovely outside space comprising of a covered portico for dining and a well-kept lawn area in front of that. Just a short walk down a rocky path to an idyllic beach in a small cove, great to watch the sun set, and a very short drive to a superb beach stretching way into the distance. The sea was turquoise, clear and beautifully warm. Two good shops and a nice pizza restaurant within a short walk too. The area around is pretty poor and you have to seek out places of interest, but they are there. The strange little fishing village of Marceddi grows on you and has a fantastic fish restaurant. The only let down was the lack of basic equipment - no toaster, kettle, tea cups, hair dryer, sun beds, etc. Basic cooking items like salt and sugar would also have been nice. You only use a bit of things like that and having to buy a whole packet was such a waste. We'd willingly sacrifice the TV, which we didn't use, for those basic items. Would we go back? DEFINITELY! Flying from Perugia, just 15 minutes from our house, to Cagliari with Ryanair was very inexpensive and convenient for us And Sardinia is a beautiful island. |
