About the home

A superbly appointed 2 bedroom character cottage, once a former school house, and still retaining some original character features including vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and stone walls, the high specification kitchen and bathroom reflect a more contemporary feel.

Ideally situated in a pleasant residential area the property is within a few minutes walk of the local amenities including the harbour, high quality restaurants and town centre.

On the ground floor there is a good sized lounge/ diner with feature stone wall, tv with dvd player,, satellite television, Playstation 2 and a selection of games, dining table and 4 chairs, 3 seater sette, armachair and double bed settee; open plan to a superbly fitted kitchen with a contemporary style and a host of appliances including a dishwasher, washer/dryer, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, breakfast bar and 4 stools.

First floor – master bedroom with king size bed, en suite shower room with double shower, wash basin and wc; bedroom 2, a twin bedded room; master bathroom with bath, wc and wash basin.

Outside there is a shared courtyard with table and chairs and a parking space for one car in the courtyard in front of the cottage. Duvets and pillows supplied, but no linen; regret pets not accepted; non smokers only.

The English Riviera enjoys one of the country’s most spectacular locations, set on and around the beautiful Torbay. The 22 miles of coastline contains almost infinite variety, with beaches, coves, ruined fortresses, golf courses, cliff walks, seafront gardens, fishing harbours and marinas.

Behind the façade of a popular coastal resort lies another world of country parks and villages. Situated in a secluded valley between Torquay and Paignton is the world-famous Cockington Country Park.

This also the birth place of Agatha Christie. She was born here in 1890 and lived for many years in the area. We invite you to trace her footsteps and discover just why this region was one of her many sources of inspiration.

The Torquay / Wellswood area

Torquay is the largest of the three towns that make up Torbay, namely Paignton, Brixham and Torquay. This area of coastline is referred to as the "English Riviera". In the height of summer it is easy to see why. The outside cafe atmosphere of people sitting outdoors, the palm trees and warm weather and the beautiful blue sea and sandy beaches could create the illusion of being somewhere on the Mediterranean.

Many of the beaches in Torbay have won awards. In total there are 20 beaches along 22 miles of coast. Torquay is a bustling and vibrant resort that in the full summer season resembles something more of the South of France than a coastal resort in England. The outdoor seating of the cafes and restaurants and the well tended gardens and palm trees definitely have something to do with the overall effect.

The marina at Torquay is a beautiful sight and a hive of activity. The main beaches around Torquay are Ansteys Cove, Babbacombe Beach, Corbyn Head, Livermead Beach, Meadfoot Beach, Oddicombe Beach and Torre Abbey Sands which is Torquays largest and busiest beach.

The big upside of Torbay, and having three towns all within a short distance of each other, is the beautiful countryside, the fantastic beaches and the knowledge that even if it rains you can always find something to do. Highly recommended. A wide range of top quality theatres exist in Torbay, perhaps the most well known being the Princess Theatre.

“Excellent location and value for money” Clean and child friendly accommodation (stairgates) with all the facilities required for a home from home stay, close to amenities including harbour. Quick booking and swift issue of keys by post to check in on arrival. Recommended although remember that there is only one parking space.
