With its pretty villages, beautiful beaches, breath taking cliffs and rolling moors to name but a few attractions it’s no wonder South Devon has earned the title as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Whatever your age and whatever the weather South Devon is the perfect place for a truly memorable holiday. The towns of Torbay, Teignbridge and The South Hams provide an excellent base for you to explore and discover South Devon and enjoy the sights and attractions, stunning walks and scenery, amazing local food and drink and blue flag beaches that you’ll find on offer.
Torquay area
Torquay has something for everyone and for all ages, at all times of the year! Torquay's famous seven hills provide the backdrop to a waterfront scene that matches anything you'll find on the French Riviera. Along the 22 miles of English Riviera coastline are 19 beaches and coves. Some, close to the town centre are wide, open stretches of sand with beach facilities such as cafes, beach huts and water sports. Many are smaller and more secluded.
Torquay is rich in Victorian architecture and famous for being one of England’s leading seaside resorts. The heart of the town is the harbour which is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants; a great place to watch the world go by. From here, take a pleasant stroll along the marina with the area’s trademark palm trees, or hop on a boat for a cruise across the bay or round to Dartmouth.
Here are a few places not to be missed on your visit to Torbay: Cockington Village an idyllic hamlet of thatched cottages. Kents Cavern, which is one of the most ancient sites in Great Britain. Babbacombe Model Village is a superb day out and fun for all the family, with thatched roof cottages and blacksmiths working in the 14th Century forge. There is also a fantastic Zoo close by. There are several theatres and cinemas, all of which provide excellent entertainment. Or, if you prefer something a little more energetic then why not play Golf, or go Swimming, or try some of the many other water sports available.
