Sophie's Villa is a detached and extremely spacious grand period house which comfortably sleeps 14 set in its own landscaped gardens of just under an acre with sea views over Torbay.

Visitors enjoy spacious rooms (many with sea views) in a grand setting which is a short - but steep - walk to Torquay harbour. We have a superb rating on trip advisor and would urge you to read the guest reviews to get a good idea of the space and character of the villa. For 2013, we have introduced WiFi.

The house is an excellent venue for extended (or combined) family holidays and weekend get togethers and celebrations, for 30th, 40th, 50th and 60th birthday parties, wedding anniversaries, girls weekends, murder mystery events, and large groups of ramblers or friends. We also welcome responsible hen parties and stag parties. It is not suitable for loud or raucous parties. The villa can accommodate larger groups at extra cost. It can seat 16 in the grand dining room and can sleep 16 or 18 with use of the games room and third reception as bedrooms although the price given here is for groups of 14 at extra cost. Please don't hesitate to contact us with your requirements.

Further details outdoors

The Villa is fully detached and sits within grounds of just under an acre within stone boundary walls. Please note that, while it is a short walk to the harbour, the walk is quite steep. Also, if you have dogs, please note that it may be possible for dogs to escape over the boundary walls and must be supervised. Young children should also be supervised - there is a large lawned area where they can safely play, but they should not be left alone.

Further details

Welcome pack provided on arrival. Friday changeover.

Large group weekend getaways are available year round, except for a small number of weeks (Easter, Whitsun, late July/August, late October) Responsible stag and hen party weekends are welcome. Please note the house is not suitable for loud or drunken behaviour (this is a family home).

Note also that guests have commented that it is a steep (but short) walk back from the harbour. There are, however, plenty of taxis in the harbour who can take you the short distance back to the Villa.

The West Country region

Torquay lies in the heart of the English Riviera, renowned for its mild climate and spectacular landscape and, of course, its fabulous coastline.

Sophie's Villa is conveniently located for the attractions of the English Riviera. It is a short downhill walk to Torquay harbour with its bars and restaurants, boat cruises, and the Blue Flag sandy beach at Abbey Sands.

Attractions close to Torquay for day trips include National Trust properties such as Agatha Christies' Greenway,

Coleton Fishacre and Castle Drogo; Dartington & Totnes, and Dartmoor.

Torquay is particularly suitable for extended family holidays with entertainment to suit all ages:

Close by is Living Coasts, South Devon's Coastal Zoo and the historic house and heritage centre at Torre Abbey. In the harbour are boat cruises, restaurants and bars.

Within a few minutes drive are Kents Cavern Caves, Cockington Village , numerous beaches (Abbey Sands, Meadfoot and Anstey's Cove), Crazy Golf, tennis, the hot air balloon, jet skis, and windsurfing.
