The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

Lake Como has been popular as a resort since the days of the Roman Empire. Visitors ever since have admired the blue waters and relaxed in luxurious villas in the wooded lakeside slopes above. Today, most of the towns around the shores of Lake Como are popular with tourists, walkers, cyclists and swimmers.
Many areas of interest just a few Km from Torno:
Como
Como is a lively and pleasant town with an appealing historical centre and a scenic location at the southern end of the east branch of Lake Como. The impressive cathedral (Duomo), like most in Italy, was built and added to over a period of centuries, so you can admire Gothic and Renaissance features including some fine tapestries and paintings. The town's earlier cathedral (built in the tenth century), San Fedele, is another fine sight, as are the tall nine-hundred-year-old gateway, Porta Vittoria, and the Romanesque church Sant'Abbondio. The town's art gallery (Pinacoteca) is also worth a visit. For a short trip out of town, take the funicular up to the top of the hill above Como, where you can enjoy spectacular views.
Bellagio...
Bellagio is a beautiful little town in a picture-perfect location on the promontory where Lake Como separates into two branches. The town is historic and charming, with a waterfront promenades, stately hotels and two gardens open to the public: Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi. Bellagio's tourist information offices are by the ferry jetty and in Piazza della Chiesa.
Milan... Switzerland.... AND MUCH MORE!
The Torno area
Torno lies just a few km along the road from Como to Bellagio and it's a real pearl of the lake.
Monuments you can't miss are Santa Tecla, San Giovanni and Villa Pliniana, while Monte Piatto is perfect for relaxing hikes.
Life there is just amazing: there's nothing better than a glass of wine at Bar Italia, just before a nice dinner or after a boat trip on the lake. The atmosphere is relaxed end enjoyable, moreover all you need is just a few steps far from the house (gas station, a mini market, a bank and bars and restaurants).
A place I simply love.

Guestbook for Antique Villa with great view
"Very nice people and charming house with a tremendous view on the lake. It is all the most pleasant as this house has been lived in, so it is far from the empty no soul vacation flat. Clear recommandation."

"The house was delighful, clean and comfortable with wonderful views of the lake, especially from the top bedroom,, the balcony and the garden. There's a bit of noise from road traffic in the mornings and early evenings but it's not a problem. We had good instructions from the owners to find the house."

"I would highly recommend this house! Don't expect the usual boring hotel or villa style accommodation, this house is full of character and has a real 'lived-in' feel about it but it has all the appliances and conveniences you need. Our group of 5 adults stayed here in early September and we all fell in love with the place. The house is much bigger than it looks in the photographs and has large garden on two levels. All the bedrooms have lake views which is stunning. There was a festival on in Torno village (2 minute walk away) which was great. Como town is well worth a visit, we also drove into Milan (50 minutes) for the day. Switzerland is only a 30 minute drive away and some great walking terrain. We would definitely stay at this house again. The owner speaks English which made booking etc easy"

"I spent a week at Via Roma with my friend & my mum. We found the house to be very spacious, clean & tidy. It has a comfortable & relaxed feel to it & has been lovingly restored to provide the perfect mix of rustic charm & modern convenience. There are a variety of outdoor seating areas some of which are covered which allowed us to spend lots of time outside even when it rained! The view from the house & garden is simply stunning. The house is on the main Como-Bellagio bus route & there is a bus stop very nearby. There is also boatstop which can be reached in 5 mins (downhill!) The excellent public transport service means that you really don't need a car to explore the lake & it's environs. (Although if you do have one the house has it's own parking space.) Alessandro's mum Patrizia met us off the bus & showed us around the house - it was lovely to receive such a warm welcome. Torno is a very pretty little town with a few hotels, a couple of bars, a small supermarket, pasticceria, bank, petrol station, newsagent, chemist, etc. As with many of the lakeside towns, there are lots of steps to negotiate so it may not be an ideal choice for those with very small children, the elderly or infirm. We loved the Belvedere restaurant by the harbour for it's lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, superb views & good food. We were all sad to leave & agreed that we couldn't have made a better choice of accommodation & wouldn't hesitate in returning."
