Home description

Torcross is situated at the end of a strip of land separating the Slapton Ley, a unique freshwater lake, and Start Bay. It boasts all amenities with a well-stocked village shop and post office, gift shop, local butcher and beach-side tea shops. Torcross is also home to the ‘Start Bay Inn’ which is renowned for its local fish dishes and tasty treats.

17 At the Beach is a beautifully presented and spacious cottage apartment over three floors with Karndean flooring and carpet throughout. Gas-fired central heating and hot water. Wireless broadband internet is generally available depending on user's location to the wireless access point. A small selection of books, games and DVDs is available. Strictly no smokers or dogs permitted. The entrance leads directly into a ground floor hallway off which is the kitchen, shower room, double bedroom and stairs to first and lower ground floor levels.

The West Country / Devon region

The spectacular coastal road towards Kingsbridge, passing through the village of Stoke Fleming, perched on the cliffs 300ft above the sea overlooking the golden shingle of Blackpool Sands, the award-winning beach that proves very popular with visitors all year round. Strete, occupies a cliff top position with views over Start Bay, plus boasts a renowned pub and restaurant as well as a village shop. Continuing onto Slapton Sands and Torcross, where the D-Day landings rehearsals took place in 1944, the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley , a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers, is separated from the sea by just a shingle bank and the narrow road. Torcross offers a shop, tea rooms and great fish and chips.

Start Point Lighthouse is open to visitors, whilst East Prawle, situated on the southernmost tip of Devon, is home to a popular pub as well as rare birds, butterflies and wildlife. Hallsands, with it’s intriguing history and unspoilt cove, is a perfect base for walking, shore fishing and exploring the coastline. Beeson lies half a mile inland from the working fishing village of Beesands, where you can buy the freshest fish or enjoy another stretch of shingle beach. The pretty village of South Pool, on the Salcombe Estuary, is within easy reach of the fabulous beaches of Millbay and East Portlemouth, from where you can take a small ferry boat over to Salcombe.

BEDROOMS Two in total. The spacious master bedroom is at lower ground floor level with king-size wooden framed bed, LCD television, walk-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and en suite bathroom with bath, wash-hand basin, w.c. and heated towel rail. The second bedroom (ground floor) has a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. N.B. All duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels supplied.

Baby friendly facilities available (please request at time of booking) include: travel cot and high chair.

BATHROOMS In addition to the en suite (above) is a fully tiled shower room on the ground floor with shower cubicle, wash-hand basin, w.c. and heated towel rail.

The Properties are available for occupation no earlier than 3.00pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 10.00am at the latest on the day of departure.
A completed booking form and payment for rental deposit (1/3rd), booking fee and other extras (where applicable) are required. The balance payment is due 42 days before arrival.
