Set in the peaceful village of Torcross, At the Beach offers a relaxing holiday destination while still having plenty in the local area to keep you entertained.
The apartments are situated in the middle of 3 miles of single beach where you will also find a cosy pub and cafes. Slapton Ley freshwater Nature Reserve is also close by and is perfect for spotting wildlife and birdwatching.
No. 9 is a bright open plan contermpory styled apartment overlooking the beach and Slapton Ley. The property benefits from allocated parking for one car.
Torcross was made famous as the training ground for US Army forces preparing for the D-Day invasion in World War II. An American Sherman tank which was lost at sea in 1944 and recovered in 1984, and memorials, stand beside the visitor parking lot as a reminder of the lives that were lost.
Dartmouth is a short drive away, as is Salcombe, with both offering a choice of fine restaurants, cafes, bars, unique shops and attractions.

The West Country / Devon region
South Hams is a local government district on the south coast of Devon, England. It contains the towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Ivybridge, Salcombe, and Totnes, where the district council has its offices. To the north it includes part of Dartmoor National Park, to the east borders Torbay, and to the west Plymouth. It contains some of the most unspoilt coastline on the south coast, including the promontories of Start Point, and Bolt Head. The entire coastline, along with the lower Avon and Dart valleys, form most of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With its rolling hills, wooded river valleys, patchwork fields, sandy beaches, a spectacular coast line and small picturesque villages. There are ample opportunities to walk, sail, surf, windsurf, fish, ride, golf etc. as virtually every sport and outdoor activity is well catered for
The South Hams always enjoys one of the mildest climates in Britain, protected as it is by Dartmoor National Park to the North and lapped by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream to the South – even the name ‘Hammes’, is taken from the Anglo-Saxon for ‘sheltered place’.
Torcross area
Torcross is a village in the South Hams, mid way betweend Dartomuth and Salcombe. It stands at the western end of famous "Slapton Ley", a large fresh water pool separated from the sea by only a narrow stretch of beach (Slapton Sands). There is a wildlife centre for the lake and marshlands. Torcross was an important training area for the D-Day landings, today a tank acts as a memorial.
Just inland from the coast lie more sheltered country villages, with roots deep in farming the land rather than harvesting the sea. The thatched rooftops still remain in pretty villages like Stokenham and Slapton, where tradtional village pubs serve fine ale and good food. Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth are the nearest larger towns.
