About this location
The Devon region
Devon is so much more than clotted cream teas! It has beautiful scenery, flowing rivers ,amazing beaches, watersports, outdoor adventure, Dartmoor and it' s famous wild ponies, historic buildings, excellent choice of walks, picturesque villages and towns, wonderful places to eat and drink ............and a milder climate!
Topsham town, as its name suggests is the topmost town on the Exe estuary and was originally the commercial port for Exeter with strong connections with the Netherlands, which is reflected in some of its architecture.
The town is now predominantly a pleasure sailing port, famous for its many pubs and restaurants and unique shops - wine merchants( see big Jim at Topsham wines,Geoff at The Cellar and Marc at Vinos on a saturday morning), west country food and drink, clothes, second handbooks, antiques and of course all things nautical!
There are many facilities in the town: bowling green, during the summer a heated outdoor swimming pool (open early mornings for ‘The Nutters Club), tennis courts, a recreational ground with children's playground and skateboard park. There are numerous other activities to pursue, virtually on the doorstep: walking (there is a new traffic free cycle path that follows the estuary from Exmouth, through Topsham to Exeter), sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, canoeing, golf (nearby Woodbury Park), bird watching (the Exe estuary is a famous protected bird sanctuary), beaches at Exmouth and Dawlish Warren, and much more.
Although Topsham is very pretty, it is not just a summer holiday town, but is an all year round town predominantly inhabited by locals, which is just as lively in the winter as in the summer, with access to all the facilities of nearby Exeter.

The house has a large balcony which is great for a BBQ, a good sized kitchen and two nice bedrooms. It was beautifully clean and well equiped. There are lots of activities for kids including the pool, tennis, beaches, boat trips and sailing.

"Comfortable, central and full of character"
Lots of space in the lounge and a good kitchen and dining arrangement for families. Nice bathroom and good laundry facilities. Very handy for the restaurants in Topsham and nice little shops. Noisy at night from people leaving pubs and restaurants but settled down quite quickly.
