Courtyard Cottage is a very attractive and beautifully restored 17th century home in the very heart of Topsham. It is in a quiet cobbled courtyard just a few meters from the high street with its charming cafes, shops, restaurants and pubs. The waterfront is only 200 meters away as are the outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

The ground floor of Courtyard Cottage features a fully equipped quality oak kitchen/dining room with a gas woodburner.

On the first floor is a comfortable lounge which has a large sofa and TV. The bathroom, with bath and shower over is also on the first floor while the large double bedroom is on the second floor. The bench in front of the cottage offers a good spot to sit in the sun and enjoy a coffee or glass of wine. Sorry but the property has fairly steep oak stairs and is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. It is possible to park in the street within a few meters of the cottage although there is not a designated parking spot. Free parking is available in nearby streets and there is a paying car park (free overnight) opposite.

Topsham has excellent transport links. The train station is 400 meters from the cottage and has a regular service to Exeter and Exmouth beach. The bus service is also good and the airport is 10 km away.

The Devon region

Devon is a stunningly beautiful county with long sandy beaches, cliffs, the rugged moors and soft rolling hills. There are a number of cycle trails and lovely walks in this region which is dotted with country pubs and excellent eateries. Plymouth and Exeter are the major cities and between them offer theatres, museums, shopping centres, dry ski slope and an ice rink but there are many smaller towns and villages with their own charming character and, of course, tea shops for traditional Devon cream tea. The South Hams have a beauty of their own and boast the coastal towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcombe.

Topsham

Topsham is the perfect base for exploring the whole of Devon or just for enjoying all the local amenities. It is a sought after, vibrant, charming town bursting with history and has a heated outdoor pool, bowling green and tennis courts and a great variety of places to eat and shop. The area has National Trust properties and gardens and there is an easy cycle trail which stretches from Exmouth to Exeter on one side of the estuary and down to Powderham and Dawlish on the other. There are two passenger ferries across the estuary and various pubs along the water's edge including the Turf Locks and the Double Locks on the canal. The whole area is well known to birdwatchers for its nature reserves. Darts Farm is an easy walk away and offers a quality farm shopping experience. Topsham is within easy reach of Exeter and local beaches and has good transport links.
