Le Chalet is well suited to any family looking for a relaxing holiday. The house comprises 4 large bedrooms, two sitting rooms and two terraces with barbeques. The 5 acres of parc are a joy to walk around and make your stay at the house very private and away from it all. There is a 13.5 x 5 metre swimming pool which certainly enables you to relax. It is actually the second home of the owners for part of the year so you will find everything you need as it is like home from home.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region
The Lot et Garonne is France as most people imagine France to be warm, verdant, colourful, picturesque, historic, and very peaceful. With just 305,000 people in a departmente of almost 6,000 sq. kms, the Lot et Garonne has one of the lowest population densities in all France. As it is the agricultural heart of France it also has some of the best food, best wine, the most beautiful scenery and the loveliest and friendliest of people you could wish to meet.
Places of interest locally are
Gontaud de Naugeret has probably the finest ancient (14thC), wooden market hall in the Lot et Garonne.
Le Mas d’Agenais, pretty village just across the River Garonne inside the church, hanging in the nave, you will find an altar piece by Rembrand.
Buzet, south of Damazan, has the biggest wine co-operative in France. You can take a tour, taste the wine and buy if you want. Buzet is little known outside of France but has excellent wines, try the Gueyze, it’s very good.
Vianne, south of Buzet is a small and interesting village. The only Bastide to have all four of its walls and gates still in place and intact.
Barbaste, between Vianne and Nerac. Has a lovely water-mill and Henry IV’s towers.
Nerac, south of Vianne, pretty town and has Henry IV’s chateau.
Chateau Bonaguil an imposing ruined castle in pretty countryside. Has a small gallery with artist in residence, Fred Bourgignon.
Monflinquin is in the north-east of the departemente this is a famous hilltop Bastide and it’s a lovely drive there.
There are 9 local golf course within an hour from the house.
There is a farm park a 15 minute drive away where you can milk the goats and make your own cheese.
Tonneins / Fauillet area
Fauillet is the closest village, 1km only a short walk from the house. There you will find shops that can cater for your basic necessities. Tonniens which is set on the river is the closest town, 4km only a 10 minute drive from Le Chalet. It is a much bigger village with a supermarket, post office, bank, local market, restaurants everything you would expect a typical French Village to have. There are many great attractions locally from tennis, golf, kayaking, horse riding, fishing, walking or just relaxing by the pool.
How to get there
By car from Bergerac (approx 1 hour 10 mins) and Bordeaux (approx 1.5 hours). Low cost airlines are www.flybe.co.uk, www.easyjet.co.uk and www.ryanair.co.uk. Alternatively you could travel by ferry to St Malo see www.brittanyferries.co.uk. It would then take approx 6.5 hours to travel to Le Chalet by car. Further details indoors: Kitchen with exposed stone walls and tiled floor. Large dining room with table to seat 8 people. Large living room with wooden carved open fire place. Second sitting room. 4 large bedrooms. 2 bathrooms All rooms have been renovated in 2006 so the house is immaculate. Other than the kitchen and bathrooms all rooms have the original wooden flooring which has also recently been restored. Vaste celar which has a laundry area.
Further details outdoors: Private tree lined drive with spacious parking area. French doors from living room leading to the front verandah. Verandah off the kitchen entrance which is covered in case of rain or if you are looking for some shade from the sun. Private 13.5 x 5 metre swimming pool with child safety alarm fitted. 5 acres of parc with numerous trees of many ages.
