Tours are available from the Tourist Information Centre. There is a great bookshop located in this part of Tonbridge, Mr Books, in a beautiful medieval building. Tonbridge even has its own theatre, The Oast Theatre inside the 19th Century Kentish oast house, with 10 productions every year!

There are a variety of wonderful houses and gardens to visit, including the National Trust properties such as Ightham Mote (15 minutes' drive), Hever Castle and Scotney Castle (20 minutes drive), both moated castles, Knowle, near Sevenoaks and Chartwell, the home of Winston Churchill, near Westerham. Bodiam Castle, although in Sussex, is only 30 minutes' drive and Penshurst Place is not far from the holiday cottage, with beautiful gardens and a fun adventure playground for children.

Bedgebury Forest and National Park is only 20 minutes' drive away, which is a stunning area of natural beauty miles of walks and cycling paths, including 'Go Ape,' a hugely fun activity where you can swing through the trees. Nearby Bewl water is the largest area of inland water in the South-East. Bowles Outdoor Centre, is situated just 15 minutes away where you can learn to rock climb, build rafts and even ski on the 2 dry ski slopes.

A visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells is a must. It's a very attractive town with great shopping facilities. It was established as a spa town in Georgian times and was very popular under Richard (Beau) Nash when the Pantiles and its Chalybeate Spring attracted visitors from all over Europe who wanted to try the waters. Nowadays, it is a pleasant place to wander, admire the architecture and visit its antique shops and cafes. Great for those who love shopping too!
