We had a lovely year in 2013 - the pretty thatched summerhouse was a great hit with visitors young and old...Perfect for a shady picnic or a glass of wine as the sun dips down!
The Bread Oven is set in large (6.5 acres) landscaped gardens and parkland. A mix of young and mature trees help to create a totally private relaxing space.
With quiet spots for relaxing and open lawns for outdoor games such as croquet, babminton, boules or football there is something for every taste!
The 12 x 6m heated salt water pool is perfectly positioned to take advantage of the beautiful far reaching views of the rolling Lot & Garonne countryside. The pool is tucked into the huillside with wide terraces and surrounded by lavender hedges. The shallow end has Roman steps for easy entry and the deep end is 'extra deep' for a more active entry!
There are bikes galore for everyone - from a toddler's balance bike, bike trailer & child seat all the way up to a great choice of adult bikes. Always available for you to use - perfect on the quiet lanes surrounding the domaine.
For our younger friends we have a great climbing frame fabulous playhouse set in a wooded glade a little way from the pool so you can keep an eye on your little adventurers while the feel they are being independent!

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region
Just south of the Dordogne and set amongst the rolling hills of 'The Larder of France', this is a great spot to spend time. Whether you enjoy the traditionally relaxed lifestyle of local markets and lazy lunches or a more active time canoeing, golfing or sightseeing. Gigan is a great base for all sorts of holidays.
The landscape is that of a beautiful fertile land, noted for the far reaching plum orchards and fields of sunflowers.
The area is bristling with Bastide towns - all different and offering much to interest the tourist. Most notable and within just a short drive are Eymet, Monflanquin, Penne d'Agenais and Pujols.
There are several large towns within reach - interesting in themselves, but also with good ranges of shops. Best to go on market day so you can enjoy the best of both worlds - most notable are Bergerac, Villeneuve and Agen.
There are several fabulous fortified chateaux within very easy reach, including Duras, Bonaquil and Biron - great for trips out and particularly fun when they run various festivals during the summer months.
Tombeboeuf offers everything you need for day to day life, with a boulangerie, butcher, local shop (selling just about everything), pharmacy and good local restaurant. Just outside the village is a great 9 hole golf course, English owned, and club house - a really relaxing way of spending half a day. To the east of the village is a picturesque lake which is a nature reserve - great for an easy 4km walk or fishing (licences can be bought in the village).
Closer to the house is the restored windmill of Coulx - open to the public twice a week and a great walk along quiet lanes from the house - a really great spot for a picnic with the most amazing 360 degree views of the region.
Slightly further afield, to the south, is the town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. This is a traditional bastide town with a great local market, bustling centre and a good selection of shops and cafes.
The river Lot is about 15 minutes drive south and during the summer months boats and canoes can be hired at Castelmoron-sur-Lot and further afield on the rivers Dordogne and Garonne.
Restaurants are a plenty, from a simple cafe meal to the very best in dining. Information on these is in the information pack provided on arrival.
Just to the north is the Bergerac wine region with it's abundance of vineyards and some great wines. Suggestions for winetasting tours are included in the information pack.
Bergerac, itself, is well worth a visit - a great town with museums, river trips, good shops and some memorable restaurants.
There are daily markets in the local towns which make it so easy to slip into the slow pace of French life.
During July & August several of the local towns have 'Night Markets'. These are great fun, with trestle tables set out under the stars, locals and tourists eat together choosing their meals from the stalls set up by local producers - you can choose your wine, starter, main and pud all from different stalls. With live music and warm evening a trip to a night market is a real must for anyone visiting the area!
The area is steeped in history and to celebrate that history the towns and villages have medieval fairs during the summer, some just for one day and some for several - great fun with jousting, falconery, wandering musicians and stalls selling 'medieval' wares. - There are full details of these in the information pack provided.
